Which one?? bit conufused.. power consumption dosent really bother me. I know most people will say 8800GTS but the X2900XT has an appeal lol.. haha.. They are both of similar price.

Me being a Nvidia guy I would have to say 8800.

But it really is up to you matey!

The 8800s have been doing really well to.

Besides being an nVidia guy, cos ATi drivers are stuck together with tape...

If I were in a doubt about the 2, I`d check the OC3D reviews and see if there`s any valuable tidbits I can find in there.

I know the 8800 get outstanding remarks from lots of peoples, but the Ati card hasn`t been out as long .. so meh.

If Kemp had both cards, seeing his results on 2 identical mobos (with the exception of the gfx obviously), would sway me either way.

I believe we have a thread on this dont we? I can link to a thread on another forum that obviously shows how the 8800GTS 640mb smashes the HD2900XT. It only wins in one DX10 benchie in where it even beats the GTX, but thats ONE out of alot.

I read one review yesterday that showed the 2900XT tying the 8800GTX in some things, and beating the 8800GTS in pretty much everything. Apparently ATI has improved their drivers a good bit, since the reviews I was reading some weeks ago showed the opposite. However I agree that nVidia has superior drivers. Of course none of this tells much about the cards once DX10 gets in full gear... this is a review with one of the early DX10 games http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2147119,00.asp

There are reviews that swing BOTH ways. You'll get great results from both cards. The hd 2900xt is a much better looking card, so I'd go with IT!

Who cares about looks when it gets stuffed in a case upside down and nobody can see it? NOt only that, but the noise is attrocious, whether you can put up with 2 Vantec Tornados or not.

Hmm.. i think im definately gonna wait another month and abit just for the drivers to be updated and stuff and hope some DX10 benchies come out.
