looking at all my options...im not sure which direction to go.

i can fit into my budjet a x2 3800+, but i hear all good things from the opty 146 (i cant get a dual core opty)

this pc will be doing everything really, (gaming, 3d work, 2d work and everything else) so would you recomend getting the dual core (and probably try overclock it a bit) or get the opty and o'c it majourly (i should mention i am new to overclocking ('cos of dell))

advice please!

edit: i just noticed that they are out of stock on scan.co.uk and everywhere else...bugger, it looked like they were in

its your choise as its your money, however i would say those 2 are evenly matched, as the opty, if you get the right steping can be overclocked like hell, and the x2 3800+ has 2 core's and is better at handeling more than 1 program at once...atm the opty would be better at gaming, but in the future the x2 will be, and also the x2 is likely to last longer because the duel core tecnology is newer...as i said its your choise...personally i would go for the X2, but also saying that, it costs more...

It really depends on what you want to do and what type of computer user you are.

Do you want to go for a max overclock and slay some benchmarks? If so there's no other clear choice than the Opty.

If you want rock solid overclockable performance with the ability to multithread applications and get a lot of things done at once, X2 looks like that might be your best bet.

I never really thought I'd need / appreciate dual core technology until I picked up my Opty 180. I don't think I could go back to single core unless it was for something I know I could hit 3.5+ghz on guaranteed. I love this DC proc to death! The ability to fold 2 cores at once while playing a game and ripping a DVD is unparalleled :)

I wouldn't go for single core again after stepping out and buying me an X2 4400+

Multi-tasking and 2 cores makes windows smooth and butter :)

So much to choose from and not enough money to go around.

anyone know the numbers for this weeks euro lottery? Would certainly make some up coming and difficult decisions very easy.

Opty is loking the part for me but not straight away , hope I don't dip out.
