X1900 XTX or BFG 7900GTX 512

Time has come to get me a better videocard at the moment i have a BFG 7800GT will be up for sale soon

The two main cards im looking at are the BFG 7900GTX 512 and the ATI X1900 XTX 512,i will not be looking to run Sli or crossfire in the future so that dont matter,its been a while scince ive had a ATI card and i hope they have improved.

Any thoughts wellcome.

Ive heard the x1900 is the better performer in single card use. As i said this is what ive heard so dont count me on that.

I am truely an ati lover (even given the card i have now), but that aside, i would still choose the 7900gtx over and x1900 variant. Mainly because i believe we'll see a nice increase within the next driver release but also because i do honestly believe that right now nvidia have the better drivers. This is just my opinion.

In case you wonder why i say about the next driver well.... the 84.20 gave a MASSIVE increase in performance to F.E.A.R and functionality to the new range of cards, so i reckon they'll now drive to make the 7900 series fly.

I would personally go with the ATI card for the apparent performance benefit from what i have seen (not much in it) and the better image quality of the ATI card.

If you want to goto SLI in the near future, id go with the 7900gtx, as the xtx has better single card scores but not better crossfire scores.

That's funny, I've always found that nVIDIA have a better image quality; has this changed then? :?

I was sure i had seen something about superior IQ on ATI cards recently (wasnt fanboy based either cos i have no brand loyalty) but cant find it so i switch my input back to let your wallet decide.

Are you changing the stock cooler? If not that could be a factor for you.

Yeh thought that to m8 as im not going to benchmark to the max but rather play games online look`s are more important.:wink:
