X1650Pro AGP locking up computer in games?

I think I might know why this is happening but other opinions are always good so here it goes....

I got my new X1650Pro installed last night, it's an AGP version and I've got it in an AGP 4X slot on an Intel 845 mobo built for VPR Matrix (Best Buy brand).

While gaming, at any game res settings (but varies how long I can play due to the setting) the game will lock up and I will have to reopen the game, and sometimes the computer hard locks completely. If I have the gfx settings maxed in the game, usually the game will get about 1-5 seconds before locking up. At ultra-low settings I can usually play for about 5 minutes before a lockup.

At first I thought it was a power problem since this computer only has a 300w Fortron in it and I had read reviews of the card locking up in game if your PSU couldn't keep up. Well since I still haven't shipped off my 800w Tagan I hooked it up just to see. Didn't help, still locked up on me.

I tried various driver versions to see if it was a driver problem, still the same problem. So this is what I'm thinking.... Could it be that I'm bottlenecking the AGP 4X slot so bad that it just goes kaput? I am hoping that the problem will go away tonight when I get everything setup on the new mobo which has an AGP8X Pro slot on it.

Thoughts or suggestions? Thx!

Sounds like overheating too me frag. The stock cooler on my X1600 sucked ass. The AGP slot shouldn't be a problem.

Is fast writes on too?

The difference between 4x and 8x is almost minimal for AGP cards really. I dont think thats a problem. You really shouldnt have a problem and im guessing its heat as well. The lower the settings the less draw on the card.

On a side note, i had Frys check out the board for me and they said it was ok like 10 minuets ago. Ill be shipping it this weekend. (Sorry for the wait dude)

New computer built, and no lockup problems! I think it was just a compatibility issue between that craptastic old mobo and the vid card tbh.

What do you have for a new mobo?

The mobo in Mini-Li is an MSI PM8M-V which runs on the VIA P4M800 chipset, no overclockability, but it's mATX and fits inside the LiLi!

Oh so you needed an mATX board? Or am i missin somethin here?

This is a diff computer all together, for the SFF... I need the full size ATX board for this 1.8ghz VPR Matrix computer so I can get a bit more nut out of it if possible.
