X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI-e arrives

Nice, those little unused PCI-E x1 slots have always been rather annoying. It'll be nice to not have to use up a PCI slot and fill in these little slots. Wonder what the bandwith difference is?

Looks like it`s got a front-panel array to the rear of it, edging an oem release. I`ve seen, I think it was, ASUS have something similar for mobos if u want to use 7.1.

I hope Auzentech soon releases a C-Media based PCIe x1 card, that would totalllllly be the pwn.

Imagine a PCIe x1 X-Meridian, or even an Auzen X-Fi in PCIe x1 would be golden.

fingers crossed this gets rid of the snap crackle pop bull

Tell us how you really feel lol.

I'm guessing that's just a driver issue? It may or may not fix that tbh, drivers love to be finicky.

.. more crackle exploits - this keeps coming up again and again.

its not drivers its hardware based if you look through creatives forums long enough about people complaining they basically in the end said sorry its a pci problem with the bus on NF4 chipsets.. causing it, talk to nvidia.. and there in lies the dead end...

heard nothing at all about it since

no drivers, no updates no nothing.

X-Fi + NF4 chipset + Vista = crackling

screw that

the best part is, it isn't localized to JUST NF4 chipsets.. there are MANY others and still no sodding fix :(

which is a shame because i loved vista apart from the crackling no matter what i did

maybe using the PCI-Ex bus will stop it?

Fingers crossed they'll actually decide to bring out a driver that works in Vista

This is what stops me from even looking at them for myself. This leaves the problem of what good sound card to get that would work with Linux.
