WoW Classic demo cracked open - graphical changes revealed

Being able to turn it down for 30 man raids will be handy me thinks

Hopefully Blizzard's work on Multi-threading will bear some more fruit. As far as I am aware, the latest PTR builds have some new Multi-threading options under DX12.

It is not that demanding game. I am running it maxed out with AA setting on 2x. 100+ FPS all the time, except in cities where it can drop to 50. And I have raid settings on 8, just to have it smooth.

i7-4790K @ 4.7GHz,
16GB HyperX Beast @ 2400 MHz
Gigabyte GTX 970 WindForce

I am certain that frame drops in cities and raids are due to GPU, because 4790K is basically idling at 20-30% while GPU is having it's bottom handed to it at 95-99%.

Might still be your CPU, check the load of individual cores - WoW tends to max out one of them. As an enecdote my setup spanks the FPS my mate is getting, and he's running 3770 with 1070.

Maybe the Dx12 support fixes that, though.

Although, you didn’t mention anything about what resolution your playing at? Since 1080p will be an easy feat, as where as 4K will be hammering it hard.

I just remember 40 man Molten core 14 years ago and how that did your FPS, looking forward to the first person whose never played classic to go do the Hogger quest solo and have a shock, if I remember correctly there's 4-5 quests in Elwynn forest that currently are solo but not in classic the final quest in Northshire abbey if I recall wasn't soloable on a few classes

It is 1080p. I am not firing 4K with 970. But 4K would be less stressing for the CPU, because GPU will struggle.
