Would like 2GB for my X2 4400+ system.

I'm in the process of building a new system focusing around a dfi nf4 mobo and X2 4400+ cpu. I would like 2GB - 4x512mb of memory. Now I assume these toledos memory controller will be able to handle 2GB worth of memory like the san diegos and venices can albeit at 2T. I don't mind running 2T as I personally don't think it affects performance all that much in every day running (I have different mem I can use when benchmarking).

I'm thinking about getting some G.Skill LE 4400+ (2.5-3-3-7) as I'll be working with an 11 mutli and would prefer to stay 1:1, I also want at least 3 Ghz (using phase). Does anyone know if the memory overclocks ok with four dimms full? Is it likely I be able to run the memory at stock speeds with 2GB?

I don't want to buy any UTT or BH5 as I don't like using the 4V jumper on the DFI boards (gives me problems) hence my reason for looking at TCCD.

Thanks.

Guys what do you think would be better performance wise:

4x512mb @ 280HTT @ 2.5-3-3-*-2T

or

2 x 1GB @ 280HTT @ 3-3-3-*-1T

???

tbh if its everyday running, id go for 2x1gb of value ram, and run that at 200, cpu on divider... and crank up the other ram for benchies.. thats what im doing (only got the 1gb atm, but getting another when funds allow)

Been looking over on XS and superpi scores don't change all that much from 1t to 2t.

K404 - despite everyday running I still want a quick system.

Okay these are my thoughts on this, please bare in mind I have no real experience so thay re just thoughts.

Overclockers are selling 2GB of corsair ram on the cheap capable of doing 2-3-3-6 which apparently is dead fast for 1gig sticks - maybe those are worth a try.

1T timings are what you want, I ws given to understand that teh new mem controllers on SD and Toledo/Venice cores was good for PC3200 512MB x4 @ 1T so I am disturbed, annoyed and frustrated if 2T is all it can do.

I though 2T only applied to1GB sticks, that being the case then ignore the Corsair offer I just tabled here.

Either way, whats the use of having 4 slots on a MOBO if realistically you are only going to ever use 2 because of the performance hit?

On the other hand I guess, CAD and photo editiors love the extra RAM, and games may even gain as much as they lose by having the extra DDR in there regardless of 2T or 1T.

So I am dazed and confused now

I guess it poops on my plan to by that Corsair.

I guess we need someone to give em a try - I nominate Nick lol ;)

nice 1 m8 got to put my screenie up beforwe i could do it.....

just to say 1 thing..... yes 2 gig even 4x512 @2t makes bf2 run loads smoother..... tried 1 gig and jerks from time to time... not on full settings with 2x6800 ultras water cooled 1600by 1200 cpu not even overclocked......

but with 2 gig @ 2-2-2-5 my god thigs change like mad everthing up full welly was foing to sell 1 gig but now keeping it .... most new games call of duty 2 bf2 and others will need 2 gig ram to get full benifit @ high resolutions............... hope this info helps...........

Dazboots - the crazy things you are able to achieve never stops amazing me - great job my friend - Is that 4x512 MB of mushkin redline that is overclocked to 267fsb with 2t timings??

If it is then thats amazing.

Does anyone know IF you got 2x 1GB sticks of ram though, would you still need to run at 2t timings?

mmmm

260 on 2GB thats does sound most excellent.

Which 2GB are you going for NICK25, the corsiar I have found on offer does 200 @ 2-3-3-6 - is that the stuff you are talking about?

What sort of voltages and stuff will you need - tbh I'd be happy with 250 coz I can get that using the x14 multiplier and still be at 3.5Ghz ;)

Have you got the 4400x2 yet or still waiting for it?? also if you have it have you done any overclocking??

I have seen one thread on xs where a guys x2 one side will clock to 2.6 the other clocks to 2.7 ????
