hey ppl, just orderd sky tv its gna be installed this friday

so ime just wondering if any one has a sky phone line and also how long did it take to setup from the day of ur TV instellation?

also how long did sky BB take to be setup they said 2weeks from the day of line activation but ive heard 4-5days

cheers

You should be fine at this time of year. Being stupid uni students, me and my housemates didn't order it until uni basically started so there was a backlog of connections for them to do so it took about 4 weeks. Wasn't so bad though as they gave us free movies for 3 months to make up for it.

ordered in November, TV installed almost instantly, few days after placing order.

Waited until Feb for the phone line / broadband as BT were being prats and wouldnt allow sky into the exchange to install some kit.

Had to complain to highest levels to get resolution. Its all installed now and broadband speeds are significantly faster.

Just need a bloody crowbar to get the four year old away from the disney channel now!

our sky got installed really fast within the week of ordering it, phone line a week later we had the router send out b4 the line was activated so it all went good here and we have been with them about 3 and a half years and never really had any problems

awsome,so it will all be sorted sooner than they stated, thats good then so cant wait, whats ppl on the 20mb package been getting downloading wise,i live about 300-400metres away from the exchange

Depending on time of day, mine, which is quoted as "up to 10Mb", gets about 12Mb during late night/early morning, but it fluctuates during the day at an average of about 6Mb but drops a bit at peak times, though it's not usually that bad. I think I'm about 800m or so from the exchange, maybe a little more.

@runebeard, LMAO i acctulay beleved that sky dident cut you down durining peacktimes, next you will be saying its not truly unlimited,o well aslong nvidia drivers DL at a decent speed and youtupe vids load fast ime not fussed o and pron vids of course LMAO :)

Lol THEY may not cut it down during peak times, but for some reason it is noticeably slower. I'm in a student area so could the ridiculous number of people updating their facebook status at peak times have an effect?

As for unlimited - it definitely is. I had to redownload all my steam games and Sky didn't appear to bat an eyelid. And yeah even though I'm only on "up to 10Mb" it still downloads stuff and streams pretty fast (even when speedtest says current connection is 6Mb), so if your area gets 20Mb you should have no problems whatsoever.

@lasher,i will do that once i get a phone line fella ive seen that site before

@runebeard,yer being in a uni area means student looking at pron youtube vids and watchin online films,if they are anything like i was thats what they will be doin lol

Well sky came on friday but could not install the TV as they wanted to get a letter from the landlord saying we could (like we wouldent inform the landlor anyway)and they even said i would have to send it off to sky for them to check WTF i lost it at this point not only was he 30min late but he now says this and turns out i can just show the engineer the letter ,i was not told this by the sky ppl i orderd it off and they new i was in a apartment and they engineer was a ryt jerk a proper blue coller anyway rant over.

they are coming today and i have my magical letter handy

so all in all not a good start with sky

bad Admin skills

Poor customer service

Bad punctuation

I'm in rented accomodation as well ( house ) and had to do the same thing but had the authorisation letter ready for the engineer.

Just bought a house and I've found their service great dealing with the move, still gonna cost me £60 to rewire all the kit ( HD and multiroom / talk and broadband ) in my new house but that's purely the installation cost and they will leave the dish and cabling for my old landlord. Guess they should have been a bit more clear on the letter but it is in the terms and conditions.

They will need the consents for their liability insurance.

I had a stint installing dishes and virgin cable many moons ago and the amount of times I blew house bricks out when drilling through Walls I lost count! Once I drilled through an attic / studio room on a street terrace and blew a brick out three stories up... Brick went straight through a caravan skylight parked below... That cost a few quid to reslove!!!

well they came again today........................STILL NOT INSTALLED

turns out i need a 'special hight team'? WTF its about 30ft high turns out becouse of the angle of the wall/fence whatever Sky wont allow there engineers to fit it,now on sunday the engineer rang me and said 'on your notes it says you need a special heights team' he then said 'erm are you more than 5stories up???? i said erm no he said 'o ryt well no worries'

he rocked up today (early yaaaay) only to say i need a special heights team

now if that requirment is on ym notes surly it wouldent be there for no reason, even tho i said no its not 5stories high

BE****D

O well they are now coming friday, and my god this 'special heights team' better be about 12 sherpas who have scaled everest 65times each and not larry with a harness
