Wireless printers. Any suggestions?

Hello, guys.
I'm on a hunt on wireless printer now and have some questions. Soooo

What about cartridge life?
One review states that if one color cartridge is low or empty, the printer will not print black, true??
Not sure there's a definitive answer for this, but when is it recommended to actually turn the printer off when not in use?
Can you scan documents to a USB Flash drive?

Can you recommend or guide me which model better to choose? Thank you in advance for help!

Basically every wireless/home use printer is garbage unless you spend big bucks imo. If I had to get a new printer I'd think about getting an older refurb ex business printer. Certain makes of printers won't print at all if they are out of any ink/toner cartridge, even if you're trying to print in black and white with the cyan cartridge out.

Brand wise I'd look at HP and maybe spend about £60. If you do alot of printing consider buying a new/used high end samsung/HP laser printer.

Had no issues with any of the Epson XP range. Plenty of cheap ink cartridges on amazon and prints fine if colour has ran out.

After going laser, I will never go back to an inkjet again at home. Brother makes some really nice affordable home color laser printers.

You don't mention a budget, so the only suggestion I can make is our family printer, the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. Wireless printing from multiple devices, wired network point, card and USB readers, flatbed scanner, multi-sheet photocopying.

Ink life is about normal and print quality is excellent when used with the right paper (doesn't like OHP sheets though).

The only downsides to it are that the construction is a little plastic-creaky (you only notice it when moving it) and it's quite big so takes up desk space.

^^^^^^^^ This ^^^^^^^^^^

I used to own Canon's but when i brought my last printer i thought i would buy a Epson XP-620 even tho this is a older model i haven't had any issues with mine.

The Epsons are recommended TBH and I use a HP Deskjet it really depends on how much you use it

Canon MG series. I'm using the MG8150 and it is by far the best printer I have ever used. The negatives you can print with it are outstanding. I only use it for photos now and use an Epson for work/documents.

If one cartridge runs out, the rest will work fine. Downside is that it is a bulky thing if you are only interested in basic printing.

Print draw will automatically open when you print provided there is paper ready to feed (easy to forget when you leave the room). Auto turn off if not used, great wifi connectivity, works behind my concrete wall,
a substancial built in menu system via touch screen.
downside is the cost of the cartridges here in Norway will run me a massive £90...

Run many (tried) wifi printers and for the time spent getting them to behave and connect they are just not worth it, we now have an Epson 4880 Pro with huge refillable tanks and a Brother Laser printer. I hate everything about printers, the technology is still in the stone age and operating systems however advanced we've become seem to forget they exist.

HP/Epson don't like you using 3rd party inks and have print counters so you need chip resetters every 1000 or so prints.

Canon are expensive on ink but it's cheaper to buy a new printer including cartridges!?! madness.

Brother/Oki/Kyocera make really solid laser printers, but shop around for toner as OEM stuff is pricey.

I have a canon wireless and it does me fine for the little I use at home. It is crazy that the whole thing is cheaper than the cartriges tho. Cheaper to throw it away. Pros are printing direct from your phone/tablet etc.

All of the inks are used up rather quickly due to the incessant print head cleaning that started with this model. This process uses up ink. There are five inks, which can be purchased in multi-packs or individually. I may sound cynical, but I believe this constant cleaning was a decision driven by Canon's "rain makers" to sell more of what printer manufacturers make a killing on: ink. Just during this message, the printer has gone through two cleaning cycles.

False.. You can still print Black and White documents if your color cartridges become low or empty. See previous respone for details, this question was already asked: "If a color cartridge is out, you can force print in B&W only - but this works only for so long - once two carts are very low or out - you will no longer be able to print. We always keep 1 spare of every cartridge, just in case - but let it run as low as possible, warnings and all. This really is a good office printer.

Don't know, but I never turn mine off and it's causing no problems and I imagine it uses negligible power in standby.

Yes, you can scan. From the printer touchscreen display you can select a memory device such as a flash drive, or the computer, or the cloud. From the Epson scan utility on your computer you can select a USB drive if it's already connected to your computer.

I think the best pick for you will be Epson WorkForce WF-3640 Wireless Color All-in-One Printer.

Anyway, look reviews on bestadvisor.com or cnet.com
