Hi ok so I need a head set and im in the market for 7.1 headset. I also need a good mic as well that is built in to headset as I plan on doing some video tutorial but I need a good mic with headset.

What is this head set going to be used for movies, games and tv shows and me be music.

I read that it better to have a wired solution but for my set up I think I would need an extension wire just to use it so I might go with Wireless?

As for my correct set up well im a wireless person all my gear wireless as I have my pc hooked up to 50inch plasma tv so I thought of a wireless headset would be amazing but I have read a bit mixed review out there so I have come here in search for help.

Hi might try this Sennheiser PC 363D

or
Razer Tiamat 7.1 – Analog 7.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset

but then i show these QH-1339 but i think they are not 7.1 headsets?

what do you think?

Depends how far you sit away from the TV if you need wireless or not. Personally I think you should use the TV.. as a TV.Monitors are so much nicer. I used to use a TV as my monitor but my new monitor puts it to shame.

Anyway if you sit close to your tv then you may as well get wired. If far than wireless. What is your max budget btw?

So for headsets I would say 7.1 is a bit pointless. An interesting thing you can do is view this video with standard stereo headphones and you'll soon realise why 7.1 is a bit pointless (i got 7.1 headset myself though :P).

I think a good set of stereo set might be better for the price. Also, many games support this method of 3d sound (many valve games certainly do!!).

Hi well i need a 7.1 for my movies but some if my movies are 6.1 so ill would pick 7.1 in the setting i would think.

Has anyone here tried the Sennheiser PC 363D as they seem to have a very good review every where i look online say this best headset and the mic is really good not pro mic but the best mic on a game headset so far. Need your option if you have this head set.

It may not be good looker but im willing to Scarface looks for sound quality and mic quality.

As all the review point out it seems to be one of those headsets that i might consider as the Razer Tiamat 7.1 do have few pros and cons more so and they seem to have mixed review where the Sennheiser PC 363D has positives and i have not seen seen a negitive revew as yet for Sennheiser PC 363D.

One thing to consider is the fact that '7.1 surround' headsets have to pack a lot of smaller drivers into the same earcups to achieve true discrete 7.1 channels of audio. 11 times out of ten this means worse overall sound quality versus traditional stereo headsets (like the PC363D) which use larger drivers. Also try to use wired if possible as wireless both adds latency and has potential to be interfered with by other wireless devices in your home. Oh and the third post hits my last point square on the head.

Don't get a 7.1 headset, they're crap. Very much a gimmick especially those Razer Tiamat things.

Get a decent, stereo pair of headPhones and use virtual surround you'll get a 100x better experience.

When you have the smaller, individual drivers, you get this weird kinda of signal passover, when a sound moves from say front left, to far left, the sound can dip in and out and you don't get accurate placement and a whole host of other things. And the drivers are almost always a pile of crap as well.

Look for something like some DT770's or if you like more high end in your sound (referring to pitch not referring to quality) try AKG K701/K702.

Honestly don't waste your money on anything 7.1'ified it's almost always a complete waste of money.

+1 That, I've had 5.1 and 7.1 headsets and they are all just a huge waste of money, you can't beat a good quality stereo headset *cough* CMStorm Pulse-R.

Now that you mention it it's time I upgraded my audio another notch. Has anybody here used the Sennheiser G4ME ZERO or Audio Technica ATH-ADG1?

yep, i have the Tiamat and its only good for FPS. Anything else and the sound lacks in literally every department.

I have Sennheiser headPHONES to enjoy better quality.

Binaural is a 3D illusion from a 2.0 recording. 7.1 makes fuck all difference to this.

Simulated surround is FAR and away better than using individual drivers. Your ears are too close to the drivers to give accurate back-side-front attenuation of the sound. Using a proper 7.1 simulation of some kind, using stereo phones is 10000x better because it simulates the way sound bends in and around your ear by actually modifying the sound, instead of just kinda chucking it at you from partly behind, infront or to the side of your ear.

Believe me I've tried and tested this in countless headsets and headphones and I finally settled on the most accurate set I've found. and it's stereo reference headphones. anything that says 7.1 on it is a gimmick. Get some proper stereo cans and an Essence STX that's literally as good as it gets right now. These AKG's beat the shit out of any 'gaming' headsets believe me.
