Wireless Music & Media Build...

Hello there guys...

I'm moving house and I've decided to take this oppourtunity to try and

get a nice high tech set up for watching tv/movies and also listening

to music...

What I'd like to be able to do is to watch movies on the tv (will be a

40" LCD) and then also be able to listen to music in more than one room.

So I think that I'd obviously need some type of media server which a

sterio can connect to and also which a tv can connect to...

Ideally I would like to be able to control the songs which are playing

etc via a small touch screen tablet but that will probably be too

complex & expensive for now.

I'm not sure at all how much it will cost so I think I'll just research it and then decide if it's worth the cost, so this thread will just be an ideas & questions thread really as I'm not very knowledgeable about media servers and NAS etc.

So my questions:

Does anyone know if something like this is possible?

What sort of hardware would I be needing?

What sort of software (if any) would I need to use?

Sorry that it's quite a vague post but at the moment this is still in the research & ideas phase.

Thanks,

Max

You need to wait for the server series Im doing dude. Good idea to look at the kit Ive got as a starting point. Cool and quiet is all you need as any hardware celeron upwards can cope with those needs.

Ah right, so with a server, how would it connect to the stereo? that's the problem I'm having at the moment.

Also...if I wasn't to use a PS3, could I for example stream the media to http://www.ebuyer.com/product/182588 (Acer Aspire Revo R3610 Desktop PC) which would be attached to the TV and probably running XBMC software or something...?

Sorry I'm just a bit clueless with all this stuff...

Stereo wise fella its as simple as audio cables from the sound card. if you want it wireless then Im sure that Logitech have several things on the market, none of them are pocket money items though but are worth every penny if they are going to get used.

Well really the music part is for my Dad as he was going to get a Brennan JB7 (http://www.brennan.co.uk/) and as they cost £400ish I thought it'd be probably a better idea to do it from a server etc... I'll check out some logitech stuff, cheers
