Wiping the evidence...

Hey guys. Do any of you know a reasonably fast (and free) to totally wipe a hard disk clean so that no files are recoverable?

I've just sold Project F40 and am a little concerned by the sensitive data (passwords, website code, etc) that I've had stored on there. I don't want the future owner recovering any of it.

Gotta eat - seems free and writes/rewrites a few times...

I'm just wondering if there are any other types of eraser programs as i've actually already deleted the files. I really need something to just scribble all over the hard disk.

EDIT: I shudda read the 'About'. Nice one mate - looks like it might work.

Aye if the trial allows more than 1 pass then ye 6-7 is what you need.

Best way to destroy data: take a screwdriver to the drive and then scan each platter several times with a power electromagnet. Then hit with a sledgehammer and then burn

Think he may want to use the drive again tho :p

Lol ye, I don't think the new owner would be too happy about the 'brute-force' method of wiping

just install Windows ME, your data will be lost forever no more than a week after installing.

Project F40 with Windows ME on it....How dare you even suggest such a twisted and perverse idea
