hey today i had my first play with vista @ school and it amazed me how much ram i uses up ^^ 498 mb on a clean fresh install :o do not run vista on 512 mb of ram !!!!!!

and now of my brothers freind im getting a totaly leagle version vista ofcourse and wil be duel booting off xp and vista :D on for games on for a mess around and to get to know vista and the settings will be good :D

so far from my experince @ school in the office after beening d/led last night over 1hr ^^ @ 1500kbps on average :0 much more then my line pulls, this new interface ect ect has balled me over al first i didnt like the new side bar but now i realise that you can customise this done to the last little button :D

and with a built in little bench mark (not stress though) has changed the way i see vista and think it will be a totaly new way forward :D

I like it, just waiting for more DX10 games and more 3rd party driver support. Once it's matured a bit it'll beat the hell outta XP
 
After messing around on Vista, I decided I wanted it.

Of course I will mod it as much as I can to squeeze every last bit of performance out of it! ;)
 
My vista hard drive blew up...

As kemp said. Once the programs are sorted for it itll be good.
 
I love Vista with a passion... Once you get used to all of the added security features and warning (which are good BTW), it's a fab OS. I have yet to have it crash on me and it's nice and speedy. I haven't been able to get it to play nicely with F@H yet, it works, but if I set it up to use 100% @ idle it foobars my games and makes em all uber laggy. Other than that, Microsoft FTW.
 
Well.. am waiting on ST to post mine out with my new pooter :) Well mobo and cpu. Will give my reviews then :)
 
I have to admit I do really like vista, I have it on my girlfriends laptop. Don't use it on my desktop yet because my main use for my computer is gaming and I don't think vista is quite as good as xp just now for that. I'm sure it will be in time though. As soon as all the little niggles are sorted out and Dx10 games start arriving vista will be ftw!
 
Can't remember, go search XS for Vista game performance and the thread I was looking at should pop up. I'm at work @ the moment.
 
I would probaly play it if we didn't have to pay monthly.

I don't agree with it.. I believe that once you brought the software its yours to do what you like with it (with consideration).

Anywho, Vista is amazing just waiting for service pack one, then i'd be a Vista man! :p
 
I've been using Vista for a few weeks. I have to dual boot to XP as Pinnacle Studio 10 is very flaky under Vista and I use it a lot. XP looks old and tired compared to Vista and surprisingly as said elsewhere, it is rock solid and the security albeit a pain at first is very re-assuring :D XP's desktop is quite a bit quicker if you have anywhere near all the effects turned on but it is so pretty (can I call it pretty???) I've had it running on a 3200+ with 2gb ram and an old Ti4600 card. Don't laugh, it worked but the desktop was way too slow. I convinced him to upgrade :D
