Windows update spanked PC

Has anyone else had issues with Windows Updates!!

I ran some updates and it has toltally messed things up.

All the nvidia drivers.....chipset, graphics and network failed.

I tried to role back the drivers but when i boot i just get a blank screen.

I have booted in Safe mode and removed all traces of Nvidia, downloaded drivers straight from Nvidia and tried loaded them.

Now when i boot i get a desktop but no functionality, as if Explorer.exe had been stopped.

Also i got stereo server fail with the Nvidia graphics drivers.

Well its all miffed me off a tad. Any ideas what the hell is going on

Seems a few are having the same issues but no idea on a fix :-(

Happened with my network thingy and my GPU at seperate times.

Did you figure out a way to get things up and running again.

I am considering doing a dam full reinstall but i'd rather fix the error

System restore. Restored back to the point where I haden't installed the updates.

what windows version is it vista?

cause a lot of trouble is the service pack 1 update for vista, it was on the news sites a while ago

I'm running Vista x64 Home Premium with SP 2

vista updates are a pain in the rear to get uninstalled my laptop got killed by one before when it automatically updated to sp1, i think it was because my laptop has ddr 3, anyway i had to go into safe mode and change a dll file in my system folder.

I'm going to hunt about and find a restore point. I installed SP2 recently and i know that a restore point is always made before an SP is installed.

went back to a system restore from a week ago and all is now well

I swear a system restore is made just for normal Vista updates.

I had a few restore points to chose from but i had been trying to get her back up for a few days and despite her been spanked Windows gave me restore points from during the spanked period.

Hope that made sense.

I am having to do a full re install after updating my daughters pc. but then again its no bad thing as she spends most of her time on bebo, so i dragged it out a bit
