Hiya guys! :)

YES, I have got it.

And I must say it is very very nice.

Anyone have any tips for tweaking or how to get "My Documents" Back in the My computer page. :p

Thanks for the recommendation!

Yikes, how much that one cost?

I know its meant to be more stable & that, but isn't it a rather expensive way of avoiding the odd BSOD?

I have got this set up, it is very good for shaing things, but i wondered if you had managed to host a website off it yet, i tried but could not forward my router to its adress, also are you using it to host a domain, or are you connecting it to a work group, i had it set up as a domain controller but it did not work very well.

Any tips would be great.

Rob

Personally the only BSOD's I've had with XP pro have been of my own making (overclocking too high, faffing around with beta programs etc), so I see no point in 2k3 for me

Good choice on 2k3. Fastest and most stable Windows release ever (Vista is getting there however...).

I don't believe you will be able to setup your "My Computer" the same as it is in XP. You might want to try out that program call Opus or whatnot and see if you like it better for file management?

@robump: I used to to host my website from a quad xeon box I had running 2k3, it was rather simple to do after port forwarding my router and setting up 2k3 as a web server. I also kept mine in a local workgroup rather than setting up a domain. Setting up a domain can jack up your ability to host certain things without a lot of extra hassle.

I think so far it is an awesome OS.

I won't be using it for buisness more for education and gaming.

I swear IE6 is slower on it..

What I mean my My documents is that I do have the folder and all. But in XP there used to be a short cut to your shared and documents through MY computer..

I know nit picking but I used it alot! :)

I think that came as part of XP's advanced theme... I think if you even untheme XP back to basic you lose that layout. Not 100% on that though.

You shouldn't be using IE6 :p IE7, FF, or Opera FTW.

Im not a tabbed browser guy..

Im like the retro stoof!

Pretty good so far!

Oh, how do you make a user account and password?

Sorry for the n00bing about but still getting to grips with the cool changes between 2k3 and XP! :p

Oh that! You mean all the links on the left side? Thats easy.

It's called "Common Tasks" and you can enable it again in My Computer by clicking Tools > Folder Options > Show Common Tasks in Folders :)

Right click My Computer and click Manage > Local Users and Groups > Users.

Now to change a user (Password, Name etc...) right click on the user and click Properties. If you want to add a new user, just right click the empty space and click "New User..."

Oh and, you can disable Tabbed Browsing in IE7 if you don't like using tabs :)
