Windows Media Player alternative?

Windows media player has been very slow to open and slow in general and i think its because of the beta. What is the best windows media player alternative? Winamp? VLC? Also if somebody could tell me how to get my windows media player back to windows media player 10 that would also be appreciated. Thanks

I really like winamp for everything, it plays my music and movies very nicely.

I don't have iTunes. If i get an iPod sometime in the future then i may use iTunes.

I had exactly the same problem and followed this simple guide to go back to version 10.

I use iTunes for just about everything, but I do have a Mac version of VLC that I use every now and again, though the codec support for it blows and seems to give me some interesting errors when trying to play WMV's. I've found that QuickTime + Flip4Mac is where it's @.

I like iTunes for music playing, I just wish someone would make a player that utilises the hardware as well as Creative Media Player does. Coupled with an Audigy card the sound improvement is very noticible in Creative's player. Shame the player itself is incredibly badly designed and slow.

Actually Foobar2000 is pretty good at sound quality, but it's not as easy to use as iTunes.

VLC for movies as it doesnt require codecs and good old winamp for music.
