I can see this getting changed very quickly, unless they want to publicly state that all non-mic rosoft software is a threat and should not be trusted when it comes to making changes to your pc!
The sooner game dev's start to actually support Linux properly or at least allow Keyboard and Mouse on their game on Console the better, then I anyone who just play's games doesn't need to use Windows 11 or 12, with it's almost North Korean level of locking down and spying on users!
If you think MS is bad you don't want to know how bad Amazon, Apple, or Google are.
They all spy. They didn't all get to be the biggest tech giants on earth by not collecting user data. That's part of the TOS. And whether you avoid them or not is irrelevant. AWS, Azure, or GCP/Analytics are the pillars of most modern backend infrastructure.

Everything is spying on you, I expect even websites are selling there own data outside of the normal big fish, Even when you send anything anywhere email phone anywhere is sent to 7 agency's before it even gets to the receiver, the internet was created for that sole reason it's called the web for a reason and were all trapped in it, just the way it is, thou i have to admit the internet was far more open back then than now when i first used it in some ways good and in others bad, just perspective.
Oh and VPN's might get you access to something like netflix or help you in gaming online but they are not secure at all, just turn it on and your see that google can see right through your VPN on google maps, not to mention if you went to any government or military website with one your going to get flagged and looked at very quickly on there backend so might point is it's pointless caring about these things.
I can agree there are uses, but they market them as privacy and there isn't any at all.
As for Microsoft doing anything related to edge they have always messed around with trying to get people to use it, so they can expect to be fined just like the past.
If it was an accident well it's convenient but given they use AI and public testing for just about everything now, it's no wonder there are issues, i'm not sure if it's penny pinching or just a pointless waste of funds. Cause we sure do seem to get plenty of bugs these days at one point I had no network card and tbh i'm not even sure what fixed it but when i had the fiber installed it worked instantly when 6 months at my old address it wouldn't have none of it lol.
