Windows 8.1 Black Screen On Boot ?

So yesterday I checked Windows update, Found around 8 updates, Installed and then when it came to boot back into the desktop I was greeted by a black screen, I couldn't even boot into safe mode, Recovery options did not work at all.

I know MS released a few other updates a few weeks back that bricked peoples Windows installs, Maybe there are more now ?

To avoid this in future how would I fix this problem as I have since put Windows 7 back on.

TBH I'm not sure what the issue may be as I've not had it yet and I'm on 8.1 so it may just be random which makes it a bigger PITA.

A few days ago i went to windows update for 7 and i told it to check for updates but now it says "install new windows update software" even though I have updated it many times before. I won't even bother updating with all the past crap updates they have sent out.

Well that's kind of how Windows Update works, You don't just get 1 update, They pump out updates all the time ^_^

Obviously. I've installed updates all the time but now it wants me to install an update for windows update as if i have never used it before. So i won't even bother with it. Don't wanna risk it tbh

If you can't get to the desktop without a black screen you try using the refresh option from the advanced startup options menu. I think you have to press F11 when the motherboard posts to boot into advanced options.

This will keep all your files but Windows will be in a fresh install sate with everything uninstalled.

Awesome thanks dude, I'll keep that I mind for future installs :)
