Windows 10 has lost market share for the second month running

Suffice to say; If I don't see some tangible increases in DX12 performance soon, I am going back to Windows 7 myself.

The only game I've seen a really decent perf boost in is The Division, DX12 boosted the average FPS from 61 to 79, All maxed out settings at 1440P with a single 1080, Quite impressive IMO.

I just went back to Win 7 two days ago (from Windows 10) and can't believe how much more responsive it is. All my graphics programs work faster and even games seem to have higher framerates (on a GTX 1080 to boot).
There's something actually seriously wrong with Windows 10 (other than all the spying) that is not really noticeable until you go back. Then again, it could be the nVidia drivers sucking...

Would have been cool if you could have done some benchmarks on Windows 10 and then again on Windows 7 :)

I actually did and still can as they're on separate SSDs. For now let me just say that my Cinebench 15 score on my 20-thread Xeon was 970 with fluctuations mostly below that, in Windows 10, and is now 1279 on Windows 7 (it's an old-ish E5-2660 V2 overclocked to 2.9 Ghz).

The most noticeable difference is the snappiness of the overall interface and the screen refresh on the desktop. Oh, and 3ds max loads noticeably faster in win 7 and is also snappier interface-wise.

Very nice, Although as I play The Division a lot, DX12 gave nearly a 20FPS boost over DX11, I may experiment though :)

I practically don't play any games and couldn't care less for DirectX 12 (especially considering it's geared mostly towards increasing performance on lower-end systems with potentially underutilized cores/threads instead of focusing on graphic eye candy).

To me, it's certainly not worth it enough to sacrifice productivity and Win 7 has a subset of DirectX 11 features (which I also don't care too much about as I don't play games) which seem to be sufficient for my needs :)

DirectX 12 is still young anyway. Given time, it will probably be faster than 11 on anything, at least as long as Windows 10 doesn't stay the laggy POS it currently is. I'll check it out again after the next update. Hope it gets better because I like having the newest stuff :)

And even then you are one of the few as the majority of us too an fps hit on that title. Myself included.

Maybe its more optimised for 10xx series.

AFAIK it is only 10 series owners who got a perf boost as everyone I know who's on a 1080 has seen a perf boost going to DX12 in TD.

I did 3 runs of each API and picked the average.

Win7... Really? This is starting to look a lot like when people refused to upgrade to Win 7, claiming Win XP was so much better! Personally I've never had issues with Win 10, it's rock solid and I don't care if I lose 5-10 FPS in the top in some games.

I laugh at people who think 7 is faster. It's sluggish in comparison. To not instantly notice means you're making it up in your head. I ain't going back to 7.

I wasn't impressed with Win 10 this morning when my son came and woke me up because his windows was asking for a password to login, even though it's set to not need 1

Think I'll be going back to Windows 7. Windows 10 has attempted to install Candy Crush twice on my system just this evening, and that's with the Xbox App, Microsoft Store and Updates currently disabled.

Only issue is that I want a Ryzen CPU :(

Why does Candy Crush (or any other of those included apps that refuses to uninstall) bother you so much? It's not really doing anything, well except FNYLDEPOPing you off apparently hehe. But in all seriousness just bloody ignore it, they hardly take up any resources.

Edit: The auto censoring on this forum is ridicules. That is all, thank you!

I guess we have different opinions on Operating Systems. Sure it doesn't take up much space, but it should NOT be there. Imagine the Play Store or iOS Store installing games randomly on your device without asking for permission (and after uninstalling the app store). I'm baffled as to how it keeps happening. I've literally turned off everything to stop it and yet Microsoft's grubby little fingers still manage to put it on me.

The OS should be the barest minimum it can be. At that point it should then be up to the user to decide exactly what applications they want installed and not installed.

Most users don't game on a PC, why is the Xbox app forced on them? There's just so much clutter with Windows 10 that should not be installed by default. I'd be ok if it was just the Store (which I don't like) that was installed and then all of the apps were available through it. Then users have the choice of choosing their favourite programs without the others that they won't use cluttering up their system.

Well I would agree with you if we were still on Pentium 4 and hard drive space was a bit of a commodity. It's not anymore.

Can't say I've had win 10 download any games from the store I haven't told it to, and App's I've uninstalled have stayed that way

Your compliant works against every Windows OS. You do realize earlier OSs come with games to right? You're just being overly picky because it's common thing to dis W10. Yes the Xbox app counts to this as well.

If you keep updating your store apps, then obviously you didn't uninstall it now did you? Otherwise it wouldn't work. I know. I've done it successfully.

I don't understand why people hate it so much. It's not difficult to optimize it to how you want it. I've never had issue's nor anyone else I know. All that extra software you get is the exact same as bloatware you get when you buy a laptop from an OEM.
