Win8 looks crap?

If you are talking about this, then imo no. I think is a FAR improvement over what we have now. I like simplicity, yet i program Microsoft go figure.

Sure this would be a great tablet/phone OS, but on your 24" monitor? I hope you can atleast disable it, if not i'll stick with win7

Wow, and I thought Rainmeter was bad, this is a whole different level. Surely you can disable it or hide it off screen though, I can't see them not allowing you to use your own wallpaper.

Lets hope they don't take away too much of the personalization, I think they will lose out if they do though and a lot of people will stick to 7 and the die hard XP users will still find an excuse to keep on using their ancient OS.

I used to be die hard on 98SE lol then got a copy of XP Pro from a buddy loved it tried RC 7 and didnt care for it mush so stayed xp til I upgraded 2 years ago to a ddr3 rig and got 7 cheap so I tried it and love it lol but looking at 8 I dont see me loving it anytime soon

m$ has noticed the increasing trend towards touch-screen technologies: pads and phones. they have also noticed how many of the in-crowd (i want to be cool too) are buying these 'gadgets'.

m$ are jealous of the iphone/ipad, and are upset that they are stealing revenues from the wp7 (etc).

win8 is an 'attempt' to say "well done. we think we know what joe public wants. let's get on the bandwagon!"

FAIL!

there will be no use for win8 in the commercial world: 80-90% of M$ licensees are businesses.

how on earth is win8 going to improve workflow? it ain't!!!

win8.....hmmm.... i wonder if they is going to be a winPad soon?????

Imo if i cannot disable that appstore i will honestly stick to windows7, and if they do the same sh*t with future OS's i'll go Linux

No, this screen you would use when you have a tablet or phone, this is what W8 is being marketed at, and tbh they would have released this far later if ARM and the mobile device industry hadn't suddenly got so big so quickly (think iPad).

I would assume you have this on the PC, would you'd be able to disable it, I'm sure I've seen some "normal" desktop screenshots.

Didn't a MediaCenter OS or something have this sort of start up screen? i.e. no default logon window.

If you skip to around 4:30 you will see that even on the desktop monitor the appstore is visible

The guy even says this is create for tablets....

No doubt this looks amazing for a tablet... but really please don't include this on Note/Netbooks and desktops MS!

Its difficult to tell tbh, there could be options when you install the OS, there could be a Services.msc-kind of way to stop the silly media things.

When you press the "original" start button it just shits back to the appstore... so how do i get acces to My Computer etc? Or does microsoft want to restrict their OS like Apple does?
