I have an ABIT IX38 QuadGT mobo and a q9550, i have the SATA controller set to RAID and my 2 250GB set in RAID0, i put in my Win7 Enterprise x32 Install DVD and choose custom and the RAID volume is there but at the bottom says

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. (Show Details)"

when i click this it brings up

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."

i have clicked "load driver" and loaded the vista x32 drivers from the abit website and from the mobo disk and neither make a difference.

can anyone please help me?

Its a RAID error, go into the raid utility, delete the array, and start again.

If 7 can see the array then its working. With the newer mobos Ive set up recently once you tell the BIOS the drives are raid and you have got into the RAID Utility then you are set.

*edit - you have set up the Utility havnt you? Choosing the drives and raid 0 or 5 ect?

Ive edited above^^^

What raid did you set up, 0, 1, 5, 6?

i set up in RAID 0 my 2 250GB drives and in the utility it is set for bootable, i get into the windows installer and it can see the raid volume ut cannot install

btw i love Whitestar, its such a shame parcelforce bounced it. it arrived at my work on Monday and i could barely wait for conor to arrive to open it and look at it but that honour was his.

**edit: turned off RAID and set to AHCI and it doesn't want to install to either of the separate drives

Right I have had this issue before, you just need to make sure the drives are clean but not formatted. If you can use another machine just pop the drives in and go to storage manager. Initiate the drives, format them. Then delete the partition.

Then try in raid on the main machine again. Sometimes it just needs wiping before it will run. Ive set up a fair few arrays lately and they have all done it pretty easily, a bios update might be a good idea if you still have problems.

Glad you like white star, I did warn him about xmas, we nearly sent the drives seperate too. I think its just the mounts were not up to shipping tbh. If it was on his desk he would have no probs :p

no not working just gonna set it back to IDE and use that before i lose my cool at the machine.

hmmm cud it be that i using a custom BIOS because the latest BIOS for my board doesn't read the temperature of my Q9550 right and shuts my pc down?

(BIOS reads 103C, HWMonitor reads 34C,34C27C,27C)

took out all HDD reinitialised the 2 250GB using a usb caddy and my laptop put them back in and removed the 1TB put it in the usb caddy and left it in the caddy. set up the raid 0 on the 2x250 and boot the install dvd and it works fine now.

thanks for the advice tom

I had a similar thing with my adaptec, it only worked once I used 7's own drivers, then it would install, using the drivers which were cxompatible with 7 that came on the disk produced the same errors.
