Win7 sys file damaged-critical startup file

Hi guys. So my pc refused to start up last night...... wtf..so here I am on the notebook....
Windows start-up repair states that:

c/windows/system32/drivers/sfsync2.sys

is damaged - also says that this is a critical start-up file.
Is there anyway i can copy this file from another pc and transfer it to the hp, without windows running? Or is it even possible to use another systems sys.file in my HP?
Trying to avoid a complete reinstall......

Appreciate all thoughts on this.

i looked at three win7 machines and do not have such a file. so it'll prolly be a device
needing such a system file. sync would be connection (USB or NIC?).
do you have safe mode access?

Nope - didnt work to reset system to earlier date neither....wtf.
Did a complete reinstall - and system survey.... No faults reported.
Thank god for safety copies on ext hdds.
Still lots of tweaking to do tho´
Can we postpone Chrismas a couple of days......

I realize you've already solved this, but for future reference, you can run sfc /scannow in a command line to replace (most) necessary system files.
