Will it fit?

Hey guys,

I don't really know which topic this falls under but this seemed to fit it best.

I am currently running sli gfx cards and need to know if I can fit a sound card on my board. The sound card I want to fit to my board is the Asus xonar phoebus solo.

I have attached a photo below. The green blocks are where my graphics cards are and the red block is where I want to install the sound card.

My questions:
+Is there enough space there to install the sound card? I personally think that it will fit there with like 1-2mm to spare at the top and bottom. I just don't want to buy it and find out I can't fit it in.

+If I am right in saying that it will fit, is 1-2mm enough or perhaps even less okay?

+If it does fit will my top gpu run too hot?

how the hell are we supposed to know. measure the gap, look up the size of the soundcard you are going for and then make a decision.
but one thing i can guarantee you, your upper GPU won't like it.

- Should fit without a problem, as long as the GPU cooler doesn't stick out past the PCI brackets.

- It might get warm. If you want to, you can also place the sound card in the bottom 16x slot though (yes, that will work fine). Sound cards are also not that long, most are around half the length of a video card and high end ones are about 3/4th the length of a GPU.

What specific (brand, model, cooler) video cards do you have?

Ummm? Maybe some one here was in a similar situation, or some one could advise me otherwise, hence the point of a forum.

I got two 780 Classified's, but I have chopped and changed my mind since the time of this post :D I've been told on a few other forums to rather look at the Fiio E10. Appreciate your help!

Fair enough, pretty sure that'll serve you fine! Enjoy :)

Thanks, BTW you're the first person to actually agree with me on some thing or be "positive" :P, on a few other forums so many disagree and tell me what they'd do. Audio is a touchy subject :P

well no, because you didn't give any information on your gpus. could've been 2.5 slot cards. and that is a question you can easily answer yourself by just pulling out a ruler and taking measurements :) manufacturers usually put the measurements on their websites.

Well I've never used a Fiio myself so I could never advice against it. Guess most people just recommend what they personally have and like.

I have heard good things about the E7 and E10 though, and the forum audiophile (James) tried to convince me into buying one, so I guess it can't be bad ;)

TBH, I had a 90% feeling that it would fit, I just wanted to be re-assured and maybe some people could voice their opinions in which they have. So since my original post I have changed my mind completely on what I am going to do... Which is why I asked the questions the way I did.

ah yea, i like to triple check everything as well. tbh even if it fits, i would go with feronix' way and put it in the 16x/8x lane, just to give the upper GPU more breathing room.
but i've got not clue about soundcards because i don't have any speakers and only use my siberia v2 which has a USB soundcard, so i can't tell how much your reconsidering has changed the situation.

Yeah, well the Fiio E10 is external so I don't have to worry about slotting it in etc which is pretty cool, and it has a lot of good reviews, also its cheaper than the Phoebus.
