which upgrade?

thinking about my next upgrade and i cant decide between

1) a dual core processor maybe a 175 opty

2) 2 gb of good pc4000

which wuold boost performance most

I'd get 2gb decent overclocking PC3200 and a 3800+ X2

Between the two - 2gb RAM

the extra ram will give the most performance boost but it depends what sort of stuff you do with your comp. would you have much use for a dual core?

Ram. A FX55 is still more than capable. I miss 2GB.

got this RAM the other day and TBH i'm not impressed.

at stock speeds it performs porely in super pi and 3dmark05 the latencys are too high for an AMD system i think i may return it

well scores arent everything. the more intensive the app, the more ram it will use. i think 1gig is getting obsolete, and sticking with 2gigs is the best option for sure. play with the speed and timings and get satisfied. if you plan on vista 1gig just isnt enough. even if on xp, its good to have. trust us :wavey:

Yeah, try fiddling with the timmings, and with that ram and a dfi mobo, oc ur cpu to hell @ 1:1!

Man, sucks. When i up'ed to 2gbs from 1gb, the performance boost was amazing, everything ran like it should. Such a shame your kit didn't do that

I just biased towards the CPU.

I think my Win XP 64 enjoyed my Opty 165 upgrade a teeny bit more than going to 2Gb - but that is totally subjective.

Games didn't seem to care all that much on my PC.

Having thought about it - if it was me, I'd have to do both and s0d the debt.
