Which SSD do you have?

Hi everyone,

I am trying to choose a new SSD as you may have seen from the other thread and would be interested to hear what SSD you have got and whether you are pleased with it or not?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I have a Intel 320 120GB , I got for free, It's only SATA 2 , but so is my computer.

It stomps my 2 WD raptor drives in RAID 0 by 100Mb in reads.

It trails slightly in writes but I don't do alot of writing.

4k is in the 20Mb range , raptors 1.6Mb, so overall daily use the machine is way quicker.

It's cool, quiet, and uses power, I'm never going back to 10,000RPM drives whining all the time

When I get my new MB I'm going to put it in my net book, and replace it with a larger 520 series(or 2)

2 C300's 64Gb in raid 0 love them only wish i had waited a lil longer and gotten one of the faster drives but these are still stupid fast. i also have a 60Gb Kingston V100 in my backup rig works great no issues.

1 * Intel 520 Series (480GB)

1 * OCZ Agility (60GB)

4 * Crucial M225 (120GB) in RAID 0

Plus a few others in various laptops. I even have some PATA SSD's somewhere not being used - but they are crap

All I need now is to work out how to speed my network up (at a non-ridiculous price)

After seeing the responses it looks like you can get pretty much any ssd and be happy with it!

I've got 2 Samsung 60gb in raid 0. Going to be getting 2x ocz vertex 3 120gb in raid 0 next though.

Firstly the thing to remember is that SSDs are very close in real world application, therefore you should be looking for the most stable SSD first, then price and speed

P.S. I got a Plextor M2s 64gb

Thanks for all the responses

am really looking forward to mine arriving now but with everyone saying different drives I am still unsure.

I see some truth in this point though...

So I might get 2 force 3 120gb in raid 0... does anyone recommend any different drives at around the same price point that would offer better noticeably better performance?

Thanks for your help...

I would look at something from crucial or intel. Intel a little spendier of the two. They are both super reliable and the Crucial m4 is dirt cheap right now. Also the Patriot Pyro is looking pretty good right now, at most sites selling it for 1$ per gigabyte.

Thanks for the suggestion and the comments everyone

Does anyone here run 2 crucial 128gb in raid 0? If so has it been working well and would you recommend it?

Urgh..

Corsair CMF P series x2

Crucial M4 x1

Intel 320 x1

.. and 2 in a mbp and a laptop (to whit I care enough to remember Kingston something and... dunno)
