which card to get? hmm....

Ok so I've nearly sorted my new rig out. Now the important factor, the graphic card.

Options:

GTX570

HD6970

HD6950

which one? advantages / disadvantages?

I heard you can unlock the HD6950 to HD6970 level, so would it be pointless to get HD6970 when HD6950 is same standard but cheaper?

would it be lot of performance difference to my current hd6870?

was going to crossfire 2x6870 but then crosfire/sli 6950/6970 & 570 will go further into the future gaming assurance.

i've tried both amd & nvidia and pleased with both.

You can only unlock the first batch of 6950s that have the BIOS switch you can't do it with the newer versions.

So i'd go with whichever you can get the cheapest out of those two.

Don't forget though the new 7950, 7870 and 7850 are out soon as well as a new Nvidia card.

i would wait to see what to see what nvidia bring out or go for the 7000 series

As mentioned with both Nvidia and ATi releasing cards in the next few weeks it would be worth waiting and seeing what comes along. If anything it should hopefully drive down the price of the current cards a bit.
