Hello Guys,

I have performed a quick search but could not see a actual answer for my question. Saw some mentions but nothing 100%.

I have acquired a DT990 600ohm but i currently have a Xonar D2X and some ranges on the sound stage sounds slighly muffled. My Question is which amp should i get to AMplify sufficiently. I have seen posts about the Fiio E10k but the specs state it can only go upto 150ohms. Im also in 2 minds in replacing the D2X for the STX II.

Thanks in advance for the help,
Topham

The Fiio E10k can drive the 250ohm 990's. I actually have that combo and it sounds great. For 600ohms however getting something with more power would be more beneficial. I'd take a look at some Schiit products such as the Magni 2 Amp. If you want to use a DAC too then should also get the Schiit Modi 2. Using these together is a great option(also very popular) but slightly expensive. No more expensive than the STX II though and probably more capable. Also no drivers to deal with so that's always a plus.

The 250Ohm ones can be driven by the E10k.
However for 600Ohm I'd recommend the Objective2 or the Schiit Stack modi+magni

The Fiio can drive the 600ohm version, I had sennheiser HD 700 and Beyerdynamic T90's driven by it. Flawlessly. If you want to be on the superior/safe side of things get the shiit Magni and Modi. The Objective2 is great as well but delivery can be tedious and take some weeks or even months. Silverstone has an Amp/Dac combo as well but I haven't tried it myself so I can't say anything about it's quality.
