Where to get Music?

So I've got some nicer headphones arriving on Tuesday, and I'm wondering where you guys get all of your high quality music from? Currenly I use Spotify, but I'm not sure how suitable that is for higher end audio gear. Pretty simple question, so I've not got much else to say, thanks ;)

Bandcamp often comes up trumps for smaller bands. As do label's websites. I've got no idea about really 'big'/mainstream stuff.

HQ Spotify is only 320KB/s

Which is average..

This is where you find lossless music, there are other sites available, but content is lacking. But be warned each album is like around the £25 mark, its not cheap to say the least, but i have a few album from there, and the sound....put it this way, i dont have enough audio gear to compliment the quality.

£25 an album? That's mental. Might as well just email record labels for a FLAC version of the album then. If they're smaller labels they'll probably reply, but I don't know what kind of music you're into.

This is the FLAC version of albums

I exclusively use Spotify Premium, but there is always an album you have to listen to with all its richness

MJ - Thriller
Nina Simone
Ray Charles

Just some stuff i personally like to listen to when im in the zone :)

So it seems like I'll have to spend a fair bit of money for higher quality music then... Im getting Superlux HD668Bs which are meant to sound fairly neutral and deliver pretty damn good sound quality for the price. That said they arent anything fancy and I dont have any form of external AMP/Dac. Do you think I'll notice a difference between something from hdtracks and spotify with my current gear?

Biggest difference you'll notice is with a DAC/Amp, rather than uber high quality tracks. Problem with audio is, the perception to how it sounds its very subjective. We could both listen to the same track on the same gear, and you could think it sounds amazing and i'd think it sounds like rubbish.

When it comes to audio people tend to spend few months and various purchases to build 'their perfect setup'

I run some ATH-M50's with a Fiio and i love the setup to bits i always recommend it to people for a starter package as its not bank breaking. Barnsley runs a Silverstone DAC/Amp setup and says its the greatest thing since sliced bread, few people run the Schiit Magni/Modi setup and say its perfect

You need to find the right combination for you, you could buy all reference gear spend like £5000 and it might sound like complete turd.

Hope that helps....

Yeah that does help ;)

I think I'll stick to HQ Spotify for now and maybe get a couple of CDs to rip to FLAC. I think I may get a FiiO E10K in the future as well.

i have the normal E10, the K variant is a good buy ;)

I can confirm that although lately it is a little bit wonky must be because of my old motherboard can't supply it with enough power.
The Schiit Fulla is amongst reviewers similar or even better than the E10K

Do you know what the difference is?

Ooh interesting, love the name, so I'll have a look.

Since we're already on audio quality discussion, can you guys hear the differences between these 3 tracks ? http://www.npr.org/sections/therecord/2015/06/02/411473508/how-well-can-you-hear-audio-quality
I'm using AKG K702 + Essence STX II and for the life of me I can't hear the difference between 128kbps and uncompressed wav.

Cant tell a difference on my cheap Logitech speakers ;)

Using my DT 770s and my Silverstone AMP/DAC I could. I got them all right :D but I found it much easier with the tracks that had large amounts of base. Which makes sense as almost all my lossless albums are very bassy.
