whats type of braid do i need for braiding

yes this may seem like a stupid question!!

but i would like to know what cable braid i would need to sleeve my front panel connections/sata cables/fans.

theres all kinds 6mm 12mm etc etc, just too confusing for my small brain

anyhelp would be great and maybe some linkage to best prices and best quality braid? i would also need heatshrink.

EDIT: a black or non UV red braid would be great

10mm for SATA cables

4mm for fans

Depending on how thick your front panel cables are then 4mm or 6mm, probably 4mm if they are just the thin wire.

As for heatshrink, 4.8mm 2:1 shrink ratio will do you for 4mm braid, 12.7mm 2:1 for 10mm braid.

im going to be braiding 2 sata cables

2x92 fan 1x120mm fan

front panel connectors

soo im going to order these?

10mm Black+Red Cable Braid - Sleeving *Dense Weave* x3

4mm Black+Red Cable Braid - Sleeving *Dense Weave* x4

5mm ID Black 2:1 Heatshrink 500mm piece (For 3-4mm Braiding) x2

Red 2:1 Heatshrink 500mm piece - 12.7mm ID x2

how does that sound for braiding the above and some left over when i add future fans

Look ok, depends how long your cables are. Just had a quick look at a fan I've got here and you should be ok.

received today and took a good hour or so to sleeve what i wanted

the sleevings looks immensly nice but the red heatshrink was slightly fussy not shrinking as much as i wanted etc

but all is well and i have plenty left over for more fans

will add pics tommorow.

How are you shrinking it, if there's not enough heat, it won't shrink fully.

used a bosch heat gun from bnq running @ 500c
