What's the 2gb fuss all about?

Ok I keep hearing everyone say they need 2gb's of ram for these new games, specifically BF2. Well I finally picked it up 2 days ago because I wanted to give it a shot and I'm only running 1gb of ram, it runs buttery smooth and doesn't hog all of my ram.

So, whats the deal? lol

I run it 1024x768, Max Settings across the board, 70% draw distance, and 4xAA...run's just fine

@nick, try running it high, 8x aa TSAA SLI AA and 100% draw on 1600x1200, then you will need 2GB ram

btw guys, for most 2 gb pairs the timings are 3-3-3-8 or higher, so mines not so bad

I run it at 1280 x 1024 all high details, and highest AA and yes it runs fine - but I want to get ready for when it dont (plus an X2 could do with 2gb )

Hey how did u get it to run at 1280x1024??? My highest screen rez option is 1204x768.

Change the target file o the BF2 logo to somthing like:

"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2 Demo\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

Already done that, it doesnt affect the game screen size, just the menu screen. When u join a game it forces to whatever its set to in options

that's why u only neeed 1gb 1280x1024 mada a difference on mine. i get 30 fps more from 2gb so idk.. im not complaining about my purchase

Alright I got the screen size issue sorted, after taking out the +fullscreen 1 command it runs like a dream @ 1280x1024 Looks hella good too.

New problem, it's laggy as a mofo... Not like computer lag but like the kind of lag u get in CSS trying to play on a server 5989485984 miles away from you. Like you'll be running and then it sucks u back a few steps or when ur turning u turn then it takes u back....

Any ideas? Tried a few different low ping servers and got the same problem, thought it may have been due to the server comp hosting files but that didnt seem to be it.

Could possibly be the upload server and someone is downloading a large upload, i dunno. I'll try later and see if the lag is still here.
