What you think to this lappy?

Well its mainly for long lasting (throughout college) and so i can do stuff upstairs in my bedroom (watch films etc.) as my parents wont let me have the main pc in my room as i'd be gaming all day

So as long as the laptop lasts - anythin else it can do is a bonus for me...I could play cnc3 all night :p. The 2gb of ram is really what I'm after as ram is pretty crucial for laptops imo as the cpu isnt as high clocked and the lack of decent gfx cards etc.

BTW did you notice the graphics being:

Graphics Processor / Vendor NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 TurboCache supporting 256MB - PCI Express

Video Memory GDDR2 SDRAM - 128 MB

Max Allocated RAM Size 128 MB

To me that sounds pretty gd, but hey ^^

the graphics card steals 128 MB of you 2gb of system memory so you will have around 1.87gb for the rest of the system

My Acer is so many years old and I bought it for around the same price (went to the states and seen it for the same $ figure, pfffft).

It runs Vista @ 1.0 at the moment, so the one depicted should be that much better.

Atm it has 1.6 Mobile Cent, 945gfx (1078x768) and 1G. So just looking at the differences there u should appreciate the scale.

Well when i say gaming, it probably wont be FPS, more RTS as i find that enjoyable to wind down with. Ok thanks chaps, it seems the best i'll be able to afford without going "gaming grade" and spending loads on something that will only be able to play top games at top levels for a matter of months.

Ill be keepin an eye on this bad boy until july, where i shall then buy it as it seems, again, the best for my miney out of all the deals ive seen

Seems to be a few versions, some only have the intel GMA 950 (the ones that are - £375.29 + £431.81 )

It looks quite a good laptop, but the cost of laptops with nvidia GPU's seems to be quite high :(

When I was looking for a laptop ages ago I tried to get a nvidia one, but ended up getting one with a ATI x700 as it was loads cheaper :)

from £450 with the intel GMA to £689.97 for the NVidia GeForce Go7300

Would the geforce go7300 yield any advantages in gaming (as thats the only use I can see for it) compared to this intel thingy? I would guess there would be some but how much? As I said, I will only be considering this lappy once the price comes down :)

Favorite game I keep on meh lappy is C&C Generals, wastes the time away no-end when u`r w8ing for something.

Settings right down, infact somewhere or something is below the recommended settings - but pfft it works fine for me, probably the gig helps it out. No speed issues when it`s down and it doesn`t exactly look crap.

That`s the Intel 945m. I wouldn`t advise u get one with these graphics today, but just as a point of reference.

EDIT: Meant to say it plays Rome Total War ok too, settings down like with C&C. Played WOW on it, RFOnline.

I dunno, I mean resource-wize the better the processor u can get .... etc etc

A dual core in a laptop should be more then effecient, but if it were me, would I want 4 cores [1 possibly 2 working and 2 hanging around, plus the expense, probably power too], or would I want a faster single/dual core for prossibly less money & power (adding to my battery lifetime and not getting a hot lap) ?!??!

EDIT: Dual core/x2 HP latops get overly hot, almost so u can`t touch the sides.

But, I look forward to each year that software peoples will finally get their act together and use cores `well`. Maybe it`ll come.

Undecided.

Which model is it Kemp ? I`d like to get one in to check it out.

I can feel the harddrive heat too on the HPs. I actually put 2 old laptop batteries underneath em to help circulation >.<
