What to do with my old rig

Hey guys I have no idea where to put this up on here but this seems like an ok spot for it.

I am wondering what to do with my old system and am looking for some advice.

It is an intel q6600 go
xfx 680i sli motherboard
xfx 8800gts graphics card
4gb geil ddr2 800mhz ram
western digital 500gb hard drive

Now I am just wondering what to do with it. It is just sitting in pieces in my room in the boxes of my new system. It needs a power supply so if I am to get it up and running again I would need to buy a cheap one. I was thinking of making it into a dedicated server for my cs:go team to play on but that team has folded so there is no need to do that now but it would be an option for something to mess around on maybe. Would a basic gaming server use alot of bandwidth a month?

Other options would be to make it into a media server of some description for my house to stream stuff to their laptops but I have no idea how to set that up properly to allow different pc's and laptops to see it and access certain files but not others etc so I would need help there if I go that path.
Also maybe as a file backup server or something for the house with the possibility of remote access. Tbh that is a little over my head atm but I am willing to learn.

The last option bar leave it in pieces is to sell the bits but I dont think they would make anything today.

So I ask what would you do with it?

When I built my new rig I had my old PC lying around doing nothing. I now use it to stream Movies and TV shows. It's running Windows Server 2008 R2.

A home server is a good idea but thats going to burn some power with that old kit tbh. Spose its better than selling it for pennies. A home server is an awesome thing, once you have one youd never be with out it. I cant be with out my set up!

in a couple of days i will have a similar system lying around...
i think i´m going for the server option (streaming music, movies, tv shows etc.)
which os should i use?
