What Mobo for a A64 X2?

Hi

What mobo would you guys recommend for a A64 X2 + Mach2 GT set up? I'm not very keen on changing my 6800 Ultra AGP to a PCIe or to bin my DDR 1Gb OCZ PC4400 for DDR2. Because of the Mach2, the position of the 939 Socket must not be too 'exotic'.

Thanks for your advices.

If your gonna stay AGP then there is only 1 real choice. The MSI nF3 board. But I would sell your 6800 and get a 7800 (should be out in a few weeks!), and no need to worry about DDR2 yet as A64 isn't going there until the M2 and M1 sockets in 2006.

AArgh, this is what I was afraid of. This upgrade is gonna be really really expensive.... So what are my choices if I go for PCIe?

DFI NF4 board is very good for overclocking, though the position of the socket is probably too "exotic" for you (though i think almost all s939 boards are going to be too exotic, certainly most of the NForce boards have quite low CPU sockets).

If you can then i would wait for a bit, can then get the new GPUs on PCI-E and there should be some good motherboard releases this summer, from DFI and Sapphire (with the grouper board which looks like it could be stunning though there isnt an ETA atm :()

I dont know how this could ever have not been expensive when you are getting a X2.

Well, X2 is supposed to be compatible with the existing 939 MB less a BIOS update, the PCIe is not mainstream and doesn't show any real gain over AGP and DDR2 is so far slower than DDR. So, don't know, maybe I'm an idealist, but a simple MB+CPU change could have been a good answer. I was wrong obviously.:(

if you just want a simple swap get the msi k8n neo2 board like twas said

i had it with a venice at 315fsb on water :)

the best 939 agp board for overclcoking,,, would fit my mach 1 head but i didnt bother would fit a mach 2 gt no bother

im selling mine as im going pci-e sli dr coming :)
