hey ppl,i am after a meadia streamer as i am sick of getting a film then having to convert it 6times to get it to work on the usb slot on my tv.

anyway i dont wanna spend more that £100 spending less would be awsome

it must have a ethernet port and it must have a HDMI 1.3 out

hear is what i have been lookin at

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/West...64-ISO-1080P-(plusMore)-Media-Player-See-Spec

or

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Asus...I-DTS-MKV-H264-ISO-Streamer-inc-NEW-Functions

or

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Sumv...SO-DTS-Downmix-Streamer-inc-RJ45-SD-USB-Ports

now one is assuming you plug the ethernet into the media streamer then set your HDD on my comp to share? then you can see it,or am i miles of

cheers

most of my films are in AVI or divx

all music is in mp3 format

hmm i havent heard of the upnp format is it hard to set up

upnp isnt a format, more of a networking standard, it should work automatically with any other upnp devices which should be pretty much everything. avi is the container whereas divx or h.264 are the codecs needed to play - chances are they will all be avi or mp4 anyway, you can use a program called GSpot to find out what codecs are needed

UPnP is Easy to set up

you have a UPnP Server i.e an application on your pc and

a UPnP Client i.e a streamer box connected to the network

as long as firewall ports are open it works

i use a Synology Nas box with UPnP Sever which is on all the time and windows 7 streams music from it

also Xbox 360 and Ps3 Support it so you could use a console as the Client
