What is the 8800GTX ACS3?

Cheers, it is of no use to me then as I'll be w/c...

Q2. Are the rumours about nvidia dx10 cards switching from a 90mm process to a 45mm process in Q1 07 - Making the current 8800gtx/s just interim cards that will be overshadowed by these new 45mm cards?

simple answer = yes. but thats how it is all the time with vid cards. theres always something bigger, badder, and better 2-3 months down the road.

True.

My predicament is this: I have the itch. Before you ask no, the lovely young lady I am seeing has not given me an STI, the itch I speak of is the one to get a dx10 card.

I am trying to ascertain if getting either one 8800gtx or possibly 2 8800gts in Jan/Feb is worth while if they are only going to be replaced by some uber 8900gtx (or whatever it may be called) using the new 45mm process...

My 7900gto is holding its own at the moment so I can wait a little longer.

Its just that itch was just an annoyance is fast becoming unbearable! I may have to get a new case and tripple rad to tide me over lol... I want dx10 sooo badly

You want DX10 soooo badly because A.) It's never going to see XP B.) It's currently in use on Windows Vista which you aren't running C.) Even if you had Windows Vista you couldn't use a G80 with it if you wanted to D.) There are no DX10 games available.

I don't see why you MUST upgrade. I'd just wait to see what the next gen offers, by that time Vista will be out, there might be a DX10 game on the horizon, and nVidia should have some drivers that actually worth with DX10 on Vista with the G80.

I see no hurry.

All valid ponits and i agree with waiting a bit, but G80s still rape DX9 games we have now...

The itch has officially been scratched!
