What GFX to get? 7970, 670, or Titan?

Hello. I simply cannot decide which GFX card to get? Right now i use on board video.. lol !

My setup is:
2500k ~ 4.2GHz
16GB ram
1200 PSU
24' inch monitor ~1900x1200

I want to play ALL my games in 1900x1200 with everything on max - Crysis 3!

So what GFX should I get you think? I'm thinking about getting the 7970 but I simply don't know if I will be able to run Crysis 3 with everything on max and still have a +40-50 FPS?

I'm also afraid if I get the 7970 or 670, I won't be able to run the NEW games coming during the year with all the eye candy on, hence why I should perhaps just go all in and get the Titan?

.. Oh and yeah.. I use 1 monitor only

So what do you guys think I should get in order to run all games in 1900x1200 with everything on max (all eye candy on) ??
SLI / CF is not an option.

Thanks

7970 is old and beats crysis3, if you have the time to wait for the next generation then wait, if you need it now, definatly go for an 7970 GHZ my XfX BEDD OC is only 10% slower then my former Combination of 2 GTX 570 and everything looks alot better.

Why a 1200 Watt PSU?? o.o

But anyway I'd go with a 7970 if you want to get one now. The thing with the Titan is it's really expensive and hard to get at the moment. For the same price or even cheaper you can get 2x 7970 in crossfire for some amazing power.

I myself am running Crysis 3 on max settings with a single HD 7970 which is running on 1920 x 1200. FPS isn't that high, but then again Crysis 3 is the only game it gets the HD 7970 on it's knees at this resolution.

So in short I dont believe the HD 7970 will be outdated for games this year and your PSU is big enough to handle some crossfire action. It's up to you though

what about a 690 or 7990? i guess they are in your budget since you want to get a titan
they should outperform the titan by quite a bit

There always seems to be some kind of a problem on dual gpu cards. I'd rather not take the risk and get two single cards instead of a dual gpu card

well the titan really isn't worth the money and a different single gpu card won't do what he wants i guess

How much FPS are you getting in Crysis 3? Is everything on ultra?

I'm playing with everything on Ultra with the blur vision off and 4x SMAA. Changing this to MSAA, FXAA or lowering it instantly bumps up the FPS

Anyway
single player: 30-50 FPS
multiplayer: 40-55 FPS

Stock Ghz bios on a reference (925Mhz) card. Overclocking does increase the FPS a lot, but I'm still trying to find a sweet spot for it volt/ghz wise.

The 690 is pretty much hassle free now. Titan is worth in speed terms about half of what they are charging for it given that a pair of £200 660tis are faster.

The cheapest option would be a pair of 660tis or 670s. Both work out cheaper than the 690 and can do about everything it does.

If you're scared of multiple GPU set ups then just go with either the fastest 7970 or 680 you can find. Neither will be enough to max out Crysis though.

Etheir 7970 or 680, Crysis 3 brings almost every card to it's knees. So the best of the best are really the only options for "ultra"

the titan runs on beta drivers atm, it has some problems as well. a 7970 GHz should do just fine, just add a second one if you feel like you need it.

the 660ti is faster in some cases. as soon as you pump up the resolution the titan rises and shines because of the memory interface and the vram. also anti aliasing and all that stuff is usually disabled in the benchmarks where 660ti sli outperforms the titan

a 690/7990 is sli/cf as well, just with two cores on one board instead of two boards.
in that case he should be happy with one 7970 GHz or the titan, if he is willing to rape his wallet.

i assume he wants only one card

Well I've benched my 670s with identical settings to Titan and get what I should expect. Min 20% faster and up to 50% faster.

Unigene Valley for example Tom scored around 2600, I got over 3000. That was using Extreme HD so had plenty of taxing stuff going on.

I also did the same with Crysis 3 and got what I expected there also, though I do feel I was CPU limited in the upper FPS range but that didn't really matter as my lowest ebb was 27 FPS, just enough to keep it playable.

The 660ti (and I haven't looked at any benches tbh) should fare quite well and should, in the least, perform around level with a Titan.

Sure, upping the resolution will see Titan bode much better but then the 690 certainly doesn't struggle at those resolutions.

Titan is a funny card really. Funny in the sense that for 1080p it's complete overkill, yet, when you use it for its best purpose it falls short.

What I mean is I've had a good think about what you could actually use it for and the only thing I can think of is 3Dvision with three screens. And the problem is you then need to go SLI and at the end of the day even two Titans are going to struggle at those resolutions with 3D enabled.

For pretty much everything else the 690 is cheaper and, faster. You can also go the harder route of SLIing a couple of 670s and getting pretty much the same results whilst saving over £100.

I have seen the GTX 660 non TI reviewed in SLI and tbh it was pretty barbaric. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it traded blows with Titan. The TI in SLI should beat it quite conclusively.

i agree that the titan is pretty much a waste of money, but still it isn't a bad card. i mean one core being as good as two lower high end cards? that's pretty beast. still i agree that he should get a 690 probably.

The 690 is definitely a much better prospect financially. At least you're pretty much getting two of everything.

I think prices will settle once the core in Titan becomes a part of a range and not just a willy waving exercise.

It has come down to 7970 vs Titan now.

Would Titan be totally stupid to buy when I only use 1 monitor and play in resolution 1900x1200? - Remember i want to be able to play all the newest games coming this year on this resolution and with ALL eye candy on MAX!

I'm absolutely sure the 7970 won't be able to meet my wishes
