He has already got a criminal record- thus he cannot get a job or any kind of future. So this is how he affords to live.
I can see why he does it. Doesnt make it right though.

That is wrong.
The justice system (whatever its worth thanks to Nulab) stands on the basis that once you have served your punishment for your crimes, you are innocent.
