Webcam With Decent Picture Quality ?

So I'm going to have my first ever Skype date with my long distance girlfriend in 1 week and need a webcam that's forgiving, By that I mean, Maybe beautifies the pic a little by giving it depth of field etc... to make it look cool.

Any suggestions are welcome

Logitech c920, does have decent options for dof if i recall correctly, and video quality its hard to beat as it is 1080p

Yeah just bought it after watching and reading reviews, Was £89.99 on Amazon but they have a special £39.99 offer on so snapped it up

£40 makes sense for a webcam but 89 sounds like capture card money, time to use a proper camera via HDMI at that point.

For £40 it's pretty damn good with a lot of options in the software for colour, Focus etc...

I see, not bad at all. With the bitrates you're going to get with video calls it's basically indistinguishable from a DSLR except for dynamic range. To my eyes at least.

1080P's more than enough, My GF doesn't have very good internet speeds so even basic 720P through YouTube is hit'n'miss.

Its long distance though, so it barely counts (he still had time to play games etc).

We've already met and I'm moving over to her neck of the woods in Summer

The 922 is the newest version with a few more bells and whistles than the 920.

Wasn't worth the price increase, Managed to get the 920 for £39 from Amazon, 922 still costs around £80.

Well after talking for a year, Having numerous skype dates, Exchanging pics, Meeting once and then even sorting out my ticket to go see her, She today said "I don't think you're worth it, See ya".

I was left a little bit flabbergasted, Think I'll move to Tibet and become a monk.

I'm sorry to say, but i expected something along these lines (my own experience on long distance relationships bears out much along these lines). That was part of the reason that I said what I said, then went really quiet after your response (i didn't want to dampen your justifiably high spirits).

Being single for 14 years, yeah can confirm that unless your either amazing looking or just have a solid job, you aint getting a lot for personality these days.
