WD Caviar Green 1TB HD failure, again

Hi guys

2nd one in a row has faild the SMART diagnostic test, the 1st being October last year so, both have failed in less than a year and we all know how disruptiove this is. The error code was 07 the same as last time.

Should I install ACronis software and clone the drive over to the new HD they are sending me (the exact same one btw, no upgrade the tight bastards) or not?

Cloning the drive is what I would do.... Just make sure to check the disk for errors once it's cloned in case it transferred over any corrupt data from the old drive.

I am refusing the direct replacemnt and they are going to send me this model instead WD1501FASS it's a Black 3gb's drive. A 6gb would of been nice but probably twice the price.

That's a 1.5Tb drive and there's no such thing as a 6Tb drive.

It is however a Black series drive so you are definitely going to get a nice little speed increase out of it.

I think he meant the speed of the drives, like 3Gb/s SATA II and 6Gb/s SATA III.

I have asked them to consider sending me either of the 6gb's 1TB or 1.5TB Black drives instead... Yes I realise I am completely taking the piss here lol

Worst case scenario they send me the 1.5TB so it's a win win!!
