Watercooling FT02

sup peeps,

its been a long time since i wanted to watercool my rig but its never happened. I've just watched Tom's 400th Youtube vid and saw he's going to watercool a RV02/FT02 (the box was for a FT02 so im thinking its that one).

I do see that its not an easy case for watercooling as it more of an air cooling case but i've see builds where it has been done and now Tom is doing it also so i see now is the perfect time for me to go for it and also gives me an excuse to keep my folding temps, which are 91c atm, down.

The rad is pretty much sorted, its going to be a magicool triple 180mm, it uses G1/4 threads but this is where i get stuck, with all the ID and OD.

This is where i need the help, to select fittings and tubing.

Only going to be doing a CPU loop

Just wanted to know, how much of a difference would a dual 180 rad have over a triple rad?

I prefer compressions over barbs. Its going to be a temporary loop, not sure for how long though. With a triple 180, HDD cages need to come out, with dual 180 rad no modding is required.

i would use the triple 180 tbh will make the loop look nicer, probably not much performance difference. most people use 7/16 or 3/8 compressions. just make sure you ID/OD are the same on all the compressions and tubing and you should be fine, masterkleer tubing is meant to be pretty decent but i heard that all new tubing has been leaching a lot

Just built a watercooled RV02 my self tested with both 3x180mm rad and a 4x140mm rad. The magic cool rad is pretty good but the fins bend SUPER easy and you have to find some 38 or 40mm long screws if you want to use it with the AP181s as they are 35mm thick so the screws it comes with wont work. My rad also took forever to rinse out went bits of material was coming out of it forever it seemed.

To get the rad in the area where the mother board tray is notched your going to have to take the fans off of their stands and remove the fan filters, i used stick on magnets on the filters and stuck them to the bottom of the case so they can still be used. If you want the door to go back on the rad needs to fit in that notched area.

Im using 16/10 compression fittings or 3/8th ID 1/2 OD personally think the 1/2 ID 3/4 OD just look too big as they are huge.

If you want to use the 3x180 yes the HDD cages comes out but if you cut the bottom two cages off and turn it so the hard drives are sitting horizontal you can re-attach it so you can still keep 3 hard drives. If your just cooling your cpu the 2x180 will be more then enough but if you plan to upgrade and do the gpu i would go with the 3x180.

Thanks mate, just seen your rig and thats the look im going for, a clean and amazing look. It still sometime until i get my case watercooled but due to the high cost and lack of funds, im getting the setup planned now and buy the parts later when sufficient funds allow me.

But yeah amazing you get there and i hope to have a similar wc swtup like yours maybe by summer

Thanks, if you have any questions let me know. I'm sure toms RV/FT02 water cooling video coming up will answer most of them mind you.
