Watercool or EK

Hi people,

A question to all the experienced folks on these forums. Which is the best brand regarding build quality, ease of use and performance when it comes to cpu/gpu blocks and reservoirs?

Watercool or EK.

Thanks

I've read recent reviews that the XS-PC Raystorm pro does well, but i don't like the look of their gpu blocks. And it seems they no longer make the photon res with d5 mount.

TBH EK was the biggest disappointment for me. The "in your hands" quality was ass.

Watercool's rad is built like a brick outhouse.

I I ever buy anything for WC again it will be Water cool.

Check out my Riff Tamson build for the build quality.

Well thanks for all the input so far.

So Alien from your experience you'd say Watercool have better quality then?
And how do i find the build you mentioned.

Thanks

I have one of their heat exchangers and if I could I would have all Watercool parts I would.

Usually when I get rads I am annoyed that they seem to be made like crap. However this thing?

Is built like a tank. Every fin is absolutely perfect. Note though, this is not a radiator it's a heat exchanger. The inside differs to a normal radiator. However, this thing can handle 5 bar of pressure whilst most rads can't even manage 1 bar.

I have two EK rads that were given to me for free. TBH? I am glad they were free because if I actually paid for them I would be really annoyed. They are both light and flimsy and the finish? you could fart too hard and it would come off.

Seriously, every time I saw this I used to drool.

And then I got one in my hands and was super disappointed. The quality was so bad that even the writing (Coolstream) was smudged. Like, smudged in the factory.

I also had issues with the extenders coming out (the G 1/4 extenders).

It's not just their rads either. I have a Supreme water block and again, very disappointing. It's Acetal, and had score marks where the old fittings were screwed in. This may not be EK's fault as I have heard Acetal can be soft, but yeah, not what you would expect on a block costing this much.

Everything I have held in my hands by EK has been a huge disappointment. They look stunning in photos and build logs but up close and personal? erm yeah.

The best part Watercool make are their Heatkiller blocks. They are just stunning. If they are made anything like they make their heat exchanger (radiator sort of thing) then I would not use anything else.

Just don't use their heat exchangers in long loops as the flow rate through them is not the best. It worked fine for me @ £45, as all I am cooling is the CPU and it was cheap (the rad).

I would not hesitate to use their blocks though. They are just stunning.

Hmm i see.

So far watercool are taking the lead for quality when it comes to cpu blocks.

It seems though that EK have a bigger range of gpu blocks and back plates.

Yes they do. I had an EK GTX 580 block and tbh it was lovely. Far better than anything else I had but man, they're nowhere near as nice to look at compared to Heatkillers.

Which GPU are you looking to cool?
