i plan on water cooling for the first time... heres the parts i plan to get.

Swiftech APOGEE Extreme Performance Universal CPU 1/2"

http://www.frozencpu.com/ex-blc-244.html

DD12V-D5 Pump

http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=175&cat=23&page=1

Black Ice XtremeIII Radiator 360mm / 120mm (just in case i do as passive if possible or future upgrades for gpu)

http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=4&cat=72&page=1

and about 12 ft of 1/2" tygon tubing and going to be running a t-line instead of a res.

j/w if theres anything else i need to get or suggestions.. and also if these parts come with clamps or if i have to buy them from local hardware store or seperate.

First of all, what exactly is your budget? What is your tolerance for sound?

The Apogee is widely considered to be horrible waterblock and sometimes to be considered amazing. I really can't tell you which <shrugs>. Now, for $15 more, you could get yourself a AX (AquaXtreme) MP-05 PRO LE, a block that's just a step behind (or possibly on par with) Swiftech's Storm.

Pump-wise, another option is the AX 50Z. It has a touch less power than the D5, but this allows less heat-dump and noise. Your choice really as they cost the same.

For the radiator, what is your tolerance for sound? The BIX rads were optimized for high cfm fans, so that means more noise. I personally would go with BIPIII instead due to lower cost (like what, $30-40 or so?) and they are optimized for low cfm fans, less noise woohoo!

Fans, the favorites seem to be Yate Loons. Or you could put Panaflos on a fan controller.

For the tubing, another very viable option is Masterkleer 7/16" ID tubing. The lower ID has been proven by Cathar to have no effect on performance. Also, due to the smaller size, you don't really need clamps (though you can always add them for extra insurance, and no, they don't come with the parts. you have to buy them separately). Finally, and here's the winning factor IMO, it costs less than 1/6 that of Tygon. That's right, instead of spending around $40 on tubing in your case, you're spending more like $6 :D.

Here's a quick setup I put together, will run you around $240 or so shipped (Petra's Tech Shop is run by a member of XS and seems to be very reputable):

350 is max, I wanna spend around 250-300 US. for sound 30db is max. i try to keep my fans in the 18-28db range. thats y i decided on a triple rad, instead of 1 or 2, and also like i mentioned if i add a gpu to it later on. and with the pump the D5 its manually turned on? and proboly gonna get the block u sugested, ty btw.

Isn't the apogee supposed to be better then the storm?

i believe the newer apogee was suppose to be better but the older one was like a 50,50 good or bad block.

Reviews i've seen seem to suggest that the apogee is as good as, if not 1oc better than the storm.

tbh idk thats y i wanna know what block is better, cause im only water cooling the cpu as of right now ive been looking for cpu blocks for quite some time, and the thing is i cant tell the difference between the newer apogee and older, so im thinking about the AX (AquaXtreme) MP-05 PRO LE, the one that WC Annihilus recommended, and i will be overclocking wanna push my opty 148 at least over 3ghz right now its @ 2.9 on air 32 idle 38 load using a Zalman 9500.

For the Apogee, it really depends on where you look. Some places say it's the absolute best thing in the world, others say it's horrible. Once Maxxxracer over at XS finally gets his test rig up, we'll know for sure <shrugs>

We won't know for sure. The people at XS are great but its stillanother persons opinion/results so you never realy know until you've played yourself.

Take a butchers at at least 10 reviews and see what you think :)

iv been reading lots of reviews and iv concluded to get the Rev 2 Storm block, AquaXtreme 50Z-DC12, and the HW Labs Black Ice Pro III Radiator 360x120 with 7/16 muskateer tubing. gonna use some low db thermaltake fans that i already own. also ty WC Annihilus for showing me Petra's Tech Shop, not that much in inventory h/e, very good prices

NP's man. BTW, I think you mean Masterkleer tubing ;) (unless there's some tubing that I'm unaware of, which is most certainly possible as I don't watercool myself :D)

yea masterkleer sorry bout that, muskateer does sounds better tho0 =P

Rev 2 Storm block

AquaXtreme 50Z-DC12

HW Labs Black Ice Pro III

(no res just a t-line) and some low profile zipties instead of steel clamps

and FluidXp, with blue or orange uv dye.

is this okay setup or anything else to change? cause if it is gona order soon.

For the most part, people (experience w/cers I mean (at XS anyway)) consider additives worthless and go with pure deionized water <shrugs> Probably depends in certain situations. Besides that, looks good to me :)

Yeah but those are the sort of people that change their setup all the time. Additives are to stop rust etc and also to look good :)

Stop saying *shrugs*

too late just ordered, and ur right some additives do void warranty, h/e you can always clean it with some alcohol and then flush it with water.

I use a splash of GM Dexcool anti-freeze in my loop and it does the trick! Turns the water orange and doesn't effect temps (from what I can tell).

Looks like you will have a nice wc loop goin' there bro, good luck with it!
