Hey guys,

I've currently got a 120gb Corsair Force Series GT 120GB SSD but I'm wanting to upgrade to a 256 at least, 128gb becomes to full to quick with a few games..

I'm thinking of going the Corsair Force Series GT 240GB SSD or the Intel 520 Series 240GB SSD. I've heard good things about the Intel ssd's but I've also never had a problem with my current Corsair Force Series GT.

Opinions would be good.

Cheers.

i also use the 120gb force gt and i love it
it performs very well and it´s damn sexy :)
so i would get the 256gb force gt

Just checking before you shell out on a new ssd but have you disabled hibination or moved it to an HDD etc? Certain tricks will save you a lot of space on an ssd.

Intel SSD are some of the most reliable on the market, but are slightly more expensive than other brands. Personally I would go for either an Intel 520 drive, Samsung 830 or Crucial M4. All very fast and known for there reliability and performance in real world scenarios. There is some great deals at the moment, although I am a big fan of Corsair products I would personally avoid there GT series SSDs due to using the Sandforce controller which isn't known for its reliability. I would stick with the 3 listed above and if you shop around you could get a good 256GB drive at a great price. Hope this helps. :)

Actually - Crucials are the most reliable. Curcials return rate is like 0.7% whereas Intels is 1.8%

It may have been that Intel have the most reliable Sandforce drives.
If I had the money, I'd go with the Intel. If I saw sense and realised just how god damn expensive they are, i'd go with the Crucials.

^^ Interesting I was sure I read somewhere about Intel drives being the most reliable, that said it may have been some time ago. ;)

They were - but their drives got a firmware bug a few months ago which took return rates to higher than crucial. I did have a link to show, but cant find it.

I have a 330 series and and OCZ octane . the 330 is much faster but both of them are very reliable.
for me Kingston ,Intel and samsung

I'm not doubting that Crucial drives are the most reliable, just surprised me. :)

To the OP: Personally I would stick to Intel, Crucial or Samsung depending on which has the best deal on the time.

Exactly the same for me. I'd never buy OCZ again, potentially kingston but only if there's a very good deal on

I did get an OCZ Onyx drive ages ago and never had a single issue but after reading people having lots of issues with the Sandforce based drives, I wouldn't touch them.

I will say I was tempted by the Kingston deal Scan had but I am the same as the OP and want a 256GB drive and I would have wanted to RAID a pair which would have caused a headache as well as the Kingston drives running a sandforce controller. I decided against it.

For my new build I am probably going for a Samsung 830 256GB unless a better deal comes up on a Crucial or Intel drive. :)

What have majority of people got here with there ssd's? I'm seeing pretty often people have 128gig.. Do you guys find that's enough?

128gb is fine. I have 6/7 games, all programs and the OS on mine, and still have like 10gb free. As long as you put all your data, download directories etc on a data drive you're generally fine

I, on the other hand, would not find 128gb enough. Find out how much space the stuff you want to put on your SSD will take up - it's all personal.
