whats the general feeling about the comonwealth over there PV? theres a bit in the news at the moment about Australia leaving the commonwealth when the queen hands down the crown to charles (if she waits any longer shes likely to kick the bucket first)

The majority of the 'older generation' here are still staunch Monarchists. There has been an ever increasing debate as to whether Australia should remain within the Commonwealth, or adopt an republican style of govt. The probability of an Aussie republic is still quite some time away (they have been chatting about it for around 10 years now), but it prolly will happen eventually. I personally like 'Liz', as she is all I have ever known in my lifetime; and even though the relevence of the Commonwealth is not what it used to be, it should stay as it is imho.
