Hey there, I’ve been having this problem for a while now, when I find my ‘top clock’ on my p4c800-e I find that I always have to drop around 10 other wise games crash after around half an hour.
Dropping the fsb helps but I have to set it so far down that its just upsetting.
I have a p4c800-e deluxe. Im reassured by this thread http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33467 , intially I thought maybe I had damaged the card somehow. Ive tried all the video drivers (omega and catalyst) playing around with agp VDDQ disabling fast write pretty much everything. I’m currently running a 1:1 cock @ 262 with my agp/pci locked @ 66/33. I can run any manor of benchmarks (prime Sandra etc) for hours and all is fine. Even running multiple copys only gets my temps to around -14 so I know im not burning out. So then I fire up a game and after about half an hour blip! 2 mins’s later I get back to windows with the vpu recover message. The card itself never gets above 36 degrees.
The only lead I have atm is that my 3V core seems to spike ever so slightly b4 this happens, so perhaps its some kind of system memory issue? Tonight im going to go down the system bios route see if I can come up with anything there. And I will be vmodding the board at the w/e
Any extreme thought’s, extreme community
Cheers
