VoraciousGorak...

I hope you're not counting on getting your spot back from me as well?

Because you can TRY! :harhar: :nono::lol:

Lucky you, I decided to spend my last paycheck on a new monitor instead of the three GTX460s I was thinking about getting. The only chip I have running full time is the A10-5800K in my home server, and it has three open PCI-E slots and an 850-watt power supply just WAITING for some goodness. After that, I have to choose between finishing my three-monitor setup and getting another HD 6950 to drive the damn things or see if I can score some 460s on the cheap.

So if you take your spot back... enjoy it. Enjoy it while it lasts!

I found my 9800GT and popped it in there. Not gonna overclock it, I don't want to have to monitor that computer at all.

EDIT: Turned my 2500K up from stock to 4.0GHz (it was unstable at 4.2GHz on stock volts, not sure what's wearing out in the PC), so that'll help, and the 9800GT got another 50MHz on the core clock. Not too daring, but I only check that that computer is even running once every two weeks or so. Not counting my wife's PC I'm doing about 26K PPD, though the 2500K gets deactivated when I'm gaming.

Heh, well, I just run my PCs instead of heating my house. Even in Florida we get a cold snap every now and then. It makes up for not being able to Fold at ALL in the summertime (2x cost, one from the PCs and one from my A/C having to cool the room the PCs are in.)

I'm about to take over Florida for 6 days. Can't wait to get a break from this cold crazy weather for a bit.
Hopefully, the locals will recognize royalty and roll out my red carpet when I land. Otherwise doom will be imminent.

Anywhere I should check out? I'm staying in Kissimmee (spelling) and plan to go to the Kennedy space museum and over to Busch gardens.

I'm sure you've already came and went by now, but if not, let me know, I'm a bit north of Orlando and could show you around. And by that I mean I've lived here for a short time and have no idea what's going on.

Doing some work on the PCs to streamline Folding... moved the GTX460 out of my wife's PC and into the server so it won't be going up and down all the time. However, it has to run alongside a 9800GT, and that's giving me trouble.

EDIT: Fixed and overclocked (mildly), server is now pulling 26K PPD. Both i5s are still running part time, though the 750 is up to "most of the time".

I found my GTX275! I thought I'd sold it on eBay, but I found it in a nondescript Pentium 4 box while cleaning the office. I'm letting the server finish the WUs it has and then it'll be a three-GPU system.

It'll still be incredibly power hungry and hot-running for the performance it'll push, but it's winter and I don't care.

EDIT: And Fermi and G80 cards DO NOT play along together. Well, I've gotten them working a few times before, I can do it again... and I KNEW there was a reason I put a three PCI-E x16 motherboard in the server :)

EDIT 2: Sorted, finally. For some reason it always depends on which slot the cards are in. For this setup to work I have to go GTX275 > 9800GT > GTX460, top to bottom.

My three GPU setup didn't pan out, the 6950 I got on eBay ended up being dead. To make up for the part time 460 I have also added a part time i3-2100 and an i5-3470, both stock, running about nine hours a day.

uh oh...
