I think it would be a good idea to wait a while, especially for business'. Mainly because of the problems seen when XP was released.
Luckily we stopped most companies from buying XP but a few bought it and it ended up costing them a lot of time and money to put the problems right. The main ones being with Sage Accounting software and other problems including drivers & networking
The people who have been really into vista already will probably buy it tho, which is fair enough if they like it.
There are some good points in the computerworld article. A lot of them are the same as XP back when it was released.
The main points being:
- Microsoft is already planning its first service pack
- ATi/AMD Catalyst Vista Software Driver is "beta"
- Creative Soundblaster Drivers "beta" (some)
- To get full value from Vista, you're probably going to want to buy a new, Vista-optimized PC
Microsofts Version of Apples Spotlight, not so good?
- Vista's new indexed searching is great, but you'll need extra hard disk space for the index
