Vista Version Comparison

Ultimate here I come!

Contributing part of post: Good find, Mike. Hopefully it'll help people in turmoil about what's right for them, even though I think Ultimate is the only way to go. I always say, go for it all or don't go at all...then my dad says money doesn't go on trees, so dont go at all. Thank god for his subscription :P

I'll probably grab home premium, ultimate via that chart doesn't seem like a big enough deal for me to care. I also haven't seen enough Aero to like it, all I've seen is switching windows Aero, nothing like xgl/beryl.

I guess if I had to pay I might not be getting Ultimate but the world will never know. :p

No screenies tho:rolleyes:

But at the end of the day all the security features should be across the board, surely. Because the home is where the major problems are in ID theft, bank account hacking etc, then they can call it "The most secure Windows yet" or maybe I'm just being too critical:rolleyes:

They may as well call Home Basic WindowsXP SP4.

Looking at it I would say Home Premium for me, but as I will be waiting at least a year before even considering buying Vista then my choice may change as I hear/read of peoples experiences.

I am quite intrigued by "Windows Vista Starter" as mentioned at the bottom of that page.

I wonder what that contains etc ;)

I think I will be getting Home Premium Aswell.

Will microsoft not be doing some kind of upgrade system, where you buy a "upgrade disk" and use your current cd key which you use for windows xp and its just upgraded to vista and no longer works with xp.

This would mean they could sell Vista for cheaper as all you are doing is upgrading your license to the lastest product.

Will they do anything like this...

"Suggested retail price for full package product, $239.00 USD. Suggested upgrade retail price, $159.00 USD."

Taken from the bottom of the Home Premium description on there sight so i guess that means there doing some kind of upgrade discount.

If thats the case I will definatly be upgrading to Vista :yumyum:

Now would be a good time to install that unopened copy of MCE on my machine :D

I doubt they'd let me upgrade from Windows 2003 to Vista otherwise :p

Why? they don't check to see whether you have it installed, you just need to insert your windows disk at the beginning of the upgrade... ;)
