Vista Service Pack 1 Info

Hey, I read that MS will be addressing the EAX/Directsound issues that are in Vista. Can anyone confirm this? Supposedly the SP1 will be launched this week, so anyone that downloads this, can you get back to me on it? If this is true, I will most likely move back to my Vista Ultimate.

Wouldn`t something like EAX be manuf specific and down to them to sort out the processing of it ?

Thing is tho, even with the likes of the pci creative xfi cards, they`re old tech that I don`t think the likes of creative think about in terms of vista. They`ll be more inclined to base vista drivers on the pci-e slotted newer cards maybe. They seem to get a card to work on an OS - then move on. If the OS is updated u may get 1 patch, from there on u`r on u`r own pretty much, so if the OS is updated again or a new mobo comes out or whatever - u can be stuck... until a new range comes out. Then the cycle seems to repeat.

Vista SP1 will be launching in November, the first Beta will be launched next week.

Also, they won't be addresing the EAX issues, as it's not an issue. Look here: http://connect.creativelabs.com/alchemy/default.aspx

The only way to get EAX is if you have a Creative card in which case you need to get Creative ALchemy which can be downloaded here: http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/

It's not the EAX issue, it's the Directsound issue. MS removed directsound from their OS cause they suck

I got it working in Vista too..

Presently 2 Live! cards and 2 Xfi cards.

Not gaming on Live! due to the repetitive crackling prob.

they need to sort out the whole chipset thing with creative cards causing the crackling in vista BIG put off

i won't be moving back to vista until i either get a completely new motherboard and cpu (different chipset) or they actually sort out the snap crackle pop bull

Technically, it's up to Creative to fix that, not Microsoft. Microsoft designs and creates the operating system, it's up to Creative to create functioning drivers for their devices.

Microsoft has already stated a few times that Creative has been moving slowly in terms of drivers and that they are pushing them to "work faster".

Ya it`s down to creative, their older tech crackles. On XP the Live! cards and below do it alot, Vista Xfi and below do it alot. I`ve heard of Xfi crackle on xp, but meh.
