Alright so i tried to run 2142 and.. it just kicks up an error saying it's crashed.. fresh install.. crashed...

tried to patch new install to 1.10 'patching failed' ?

tried running it

crashed...

*sigh*

was hoping for some ownage frame rates..

any ideas?

also i installed BF2 and then patched that before i put in the 8800 a week or so ago and apparently 'patching failed' on that too :(

am i really gonna have to go back to XP? :(

I believe its an issue with 64-bit Vista (im not 100% sure bout that .. but judging by the talk over @ combattesting == but that cld be a beta patch problem)

why not try the current 1.25 patch and run installer in XP Sp2 compatibility mode

{right click >> Properties >> [Compatibility] >> TICK run this mode in compatibility mode and select Xp Sp2}

theres a 1.25 patch?

i'll give it a try :D thanks

Yes v1.10 is some months old now

Also make sure you're running the exe as administrator; I have some other programs that won't run properly under Vista otherwise.

We have had a few reported issues with BF2 and Vista too. The compatibility settings as Joe described were what addressed it afaik.

ok patched up still won't startup :(

tried compatibility mode on the main exe and it wont detect the DVD in the drive :S

and tried admin, in both xpsp2 and none compatibility modes.. no joy

it worked before the 8800gts? :( bloody vista...

i tried GRAW today and WOW! it's SO smooth, as is quake 4 in max settings.. so crazy seeing games my old card struggled with at 1280x1024 run like a dream at 1920x1200

dual booting is not a bad thing .. neither is updating drivers religiously

drivers are all upto date and i fixed the problem.. i had to delete all my profile files and it's fine :) now to make it run widescreen :D

thanks for the help guys

it seems a dual boot hopefully won't be needed.. now to install northern strike and i'm fixed (the reason i didn't update to anyhting above 1.10 is i aint played in ages and EA link was showing nothing above 1.10 :S)
